Fish Pedicure

So I've been experiencing this type of pedicure for well over 6 months now and I felt that it would be interesting to review this.

These fish pedicures are slowly becoming more and more popular around the world after it was first founded in the 1800's in Turkey.

The spa I visit for this treatment every 6-8 weeks is called Junjoy in the Merry Hill shopping centre. There are many other spa's that offer this treatment and probably one of the most popular spa's is Appy Feet.

Now as I said I have been visiting this spa for a while now and I believe you do see the impact of the spa after you become a regular visitor to these little fish. When you first go it's amazing to see the effects that they have on your feet, you feel like you're walking on air. However once you start to make regular visits you begin to sustain that soft feeling on your feet.

Before you put your feet in the tanks your feet are washed and are given a pair of flip flops to walk over to the tank in. Once you emerge your feet into the tank you are greeted by lots of the fish ready to clean your skin.

If it's your first time the feeling is very strange it's a mix between ticklish and pins and needles. I personally find the little nibbles are similar to vibrations on your feet and legs. I was lucky enough to go this morning and be the first feed of the day, which meant that as soon as I submerged my feet into the tank they were glued for the whole session.

The funniest part of the session was when the 15 minutes were up my mom had a couple of fish still stuck to her feet, nearly took them home with her.

The garra rufa fish were first found in Turkey used for their cleaning abilities and treating skin diseases. It's hard to believe but these little fish don't have any teeth, making them ideal for these latest treatments.

Junjou offer the choice of 15 and 30 minute sessions where have the option of having your feet or hands done or either both if you wish. Their prices are also very reasonable for the unique treatment for 15 minutes on just your feet is £10 where as the 30 minute sessions are priced at £18.50.

Now if you're feeling a bit adventurous and want to dip your hands in also the price for the 15 minute session is £15 whereas the 30 minutes is £25.

The spa do also offer other services such as manicures, pedicures and nail art all at reasonable prices.

This is an experience I would definitely recommend and if you want to find out more the website for both Junjou and Appy Feet are here: http://www.junjouspa.com/ and http://appyfeet.co.uk/
