February Favourites + Alternative Follow Links

Hi lovelies,

I can't believe how quickly February has gone, it seems like yesterday we were welcoming 2012. Anyways onto my favourites for this month, I know the one product was mentioned in my last post but it has also made my favourites for this month (will keep it brief).

Here we go:

1. Sudocrem

My beloved little pot of Sudocrem, I love using this product when my skin is bad it really helps to reduce the redness of spots and I find they go quicker when using this product.

My mom will sometimes mock me for my white patches but I don't mind it does help my skin when it's bad. Before spots would sometimes take up to a week to disappear now it takes around 3 days.

2. Accessorize blush - Quiver

A while back this made my top 5 blushers, and I must admit I had forgotten about this until this month, and without fail I've been using it the majority of this month to wear while at uni.

I love this product and to be honest was quite a cheap product but a lovely light shade of pink, and would consider re-purchasing this once it's finished.

3. Maybelline Nude Airfoam - Ivory

This has become my most used foundation since getting it, the idea behind it was a bit confusing for me before I got my hands on it. However I do love it now, I find it blends really well and considering the lightness of the product it does give really good coverage - even when I'm having a bad skin day.

However I have seen on some blogs people have got 'light' colours but have when applied been very dark and orange so I would say where possible try and test it in the shop.

4. ELF Mineral Lipstick - Party Pink

Lipsticks are one of those I try and use a different one everyday, however I've found myself this month keep going back to this lipstick. I do like it, I find it gives out a lovely natural colour - perfect for everyday use.

Considering the price of this price it does last well, and gives great payoff. Probably one of my favourite ELF lipsticks from the range.

5. China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat

This product is a godsend for me, I find when applying nail polish I always end up denting it while it's drying so I figured I'd get myself a quick drying topcoat. This works really well on different makes of polish which is great.

I got this product from the states so it was fairly cheap but it can be purchased over here. I will get a new one of these when finished as I love it, and find within a couple of mins (if that) my nails are bone dry.

6. OPI Nail Envy

If you're a fan of OPI you will have heard of this product, when I first heard about it I was a little skeptical - especially because of the hefty price tag attached. However QVC were selling this in a double pack with the matte Nail Envy for £18 so I thought I'd try it out.

I find this works really well on my nails, it's helped them grow quicker that it normally would and when my nails become long they are definitely a lot stronger. Something I find when my nails get long they tend to become weak and flaky - however this product helps on both of these.

What else is great is that this can be used as a base coat and top coat either on painted nails or unpainted.

Hope you enjoyed my February favourites, what are yours for this month?

Lastly with the announcement of GFC closing (which will also affect blogspot users) I figured I'd link you to other platforms to find my blog:

Cosmetics Haul

Hi lovelies,

So the other week I went to Birmingham with the mother, and picked up some new items. I'm not sure why it's took me so long so show you guys what I got, but here it is:

I've been a bit naughty and already been using the Dream Nude foundation

Boots were having a three for two offer on Maybelline so what can I say I couldn't resist. After seeing Maybelline's latest foundation ads everywhere I wanted to try this out, and I'm so glad I did, it's becoming one of my favourites. The thought of it is a little tricky as you think if you press a little hard you'll end up with too much product but that isn't the case, once you've had a couple of goes you know how much pressure you need to apply for the right amount of product.

I got Dream Matte Mousse as it's one of those I've used before and can't remember whether I liked it or not so I wanted to give it another try.

The blush was something I had heard a lot of reviews about so I figured I'd give to a go.

I had already got two sample sizes of this beauty and didn't want them to finish as I fell in love with this product. This has become my favourite moisturiser -probably for the lovely lemon smell. I love the packaging of this also, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the full size product. It leaves my skin feeling great when it's on and also acts as a primer before putting your makeup on - BONUS!

I couldn't help myself when we went into Selfridges and shamefully sauntered over to the Mac counter. When I saw the natural collection I knew that this is one of the products that I wanted from it, purely because I love their mineralised skin finish range.

I got this in the colour blonde and I find the colour so gorgeous, I love the gradient effect of this and the payoff is great. This is one of those colours that I can see myself wearing everyday in the summer as it can be quite subtle on the cheeks.

What I love about these multicoloured products is that they can be used individually or blended, which for me gives me more product to then work with.

The next item was something that I had wanted for absolutely ages: Mac Creme Cup. This is a gorgeous everyday lipstick and I love the cremesheen formula. I always find it so smooth and moisturising on my lips. This is a lovely shade of pink with blue undertones and is one of those lipsticks that can go with any look whether it's a smokey eye or just a natural everyday look.

The last item I picked up was this little gem that I couldn't wait to get my hands on, I love love love Benefit blushers and this is my third. I love the colours in this and once blended together are gorgeous.

The new packaging with their blushers are great with the little mirror and compact brush, what's different about this brush compared to Bella Bamba is the fact that this one is an angled brush which I prefer. I did quickly try it out the other day but couldn't get much product on the brush - so I'll stick to my handy Sigma.

However if you need a touchup during the day this brush is very handy, I can see this quickly becoming part of my everyday items and possibly replacing my beloved Sugabomb.

I hope you guys enjoyed my little haul, and if you want any reviews doing just let me know.
Have you treated yourself lately to any new products?

Soap and Glory: Thick and Fast Mascara

Hi lovelies,

So this month Elle magazine teamed up with Soap and Glory and gave away the Thick and Fast mascara with the magazine. I was really excited when I heard about this freebie as this mascara usually retails at £10.

Firstly I love the packaging, I'm a sucker for anything Soap and Glory and I find it very simple yet chic.

Soap and Glory say: "This false lash effect mascara creates amazingly, longer, fuller, fabulous lashes. False Lash Fillers, Noflake24 technology and super-fine-no-clumps natural wax film formers".

Now usually this isn't the sort of brush I'd go for in a mascara as I find it sometimes a little annoying. The other thing I found when applying this I found the brush rather big which meant the application was a little annoying.

Onto the false lash effect - I did not notice this at all! I found it great as an everyday natural mascara but I don't find it gives volume or longer lashes.

I thought the longer brush was going to mean application time was cut shorter, however I found that because the brush was bigger it lengthened application time as it was a little fiddly. You do also find that you may smudge your mascara while applying due to the brush.

Onto swatches on the eye:

I figured I'd show you a before and after:

So yeah I find it doesn't add much really, to be fair I do like it as an everyday mascara because if you want a mascara that looks subtle this can be it.

However when you're marketing it as a volumizing and lengthening mascara this isn't that. Sorry S&G. With the price tag of £10 I feel that I can find better mascaras for a fraction of the price.

Like I said this retails at £10 and can be purchased at Boots.

NOTD: Models Own Beetlejuice

Hi lovelies,

Doing a quick NOTD post, recently all I've been wearing on my nails is OPI (what can I say I love the brand) but I was looking through my collection and noticed the Models Own polishes that my boyfriend got me for Crimbo and figured I'd use one from that set.

The colour I chose was 'Purple Blue' - again had too many to choose from.

I really like the different colours within this polish, and depending on the light you get a different shade. One angle will allow you to see a metallic blue whereas face on (in these photos) you see a dark metallic purple.

When I first applied this the colour was brown which I thought was a little strange, but after two coats becomes opaque. I applied this quite quickly while watching Kourtney and Kim Take New York and was surprised on the finish and how smooth it was, especially as this was like a 10 minute job, with China Glaze's quick dry top coat.

Have any of you guys tried the Beetlejuice collection from Models Own?

February GlossyBox

Hi lovelies,

So I had my little GlossyBox packaging waiting for me when I got up this morning, and unfortunately I'm not impressed by this box. However that's the risk you take with these type of boxes, they can be hit or miss. I found with this box the items were pretty much trial size with the exception of one.

Anyways onto the products:

Welcome back the original GlossyBox packaging

Now there is a little surprise coming our way, as GlossyBox have 'Expect the Unexpected' on 24th Feb.

Onto the products:

DuWop Venom Gloss

Now this is an exciting product to have as the brand are very big, I got the colour 'Buttercup' which is a gorgeous nude with subtle hints of shimmer. I love the smell of this also, when swatching I wasn't sure I'd like the colour but once swatched I love it. Will be trying this out tomorrow for uni.

Como Shambhala Invigorate Lotion

The boxes seem to be contains lots of lotions at the moment, so I wasn't too bothered about this product. However it's a daily product so it'll be used, I'm not too sure on the smell about this, it will probably be different after using it and I'm sure it'll grow on me.

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Relaxing Balm

This is probably the most exciting product for me this month, I'm loving hair products at the moment - this is something that I'm sure I'll fall in love with as I love hair treatments for both my own hair and my extensions. Will try out within the next couple of days see if I love it - I've done that with my elasticiser from November's GlossyBox.

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap

I'm not sure about this product as I'm not a massive fan of oils, but this item does have a lot of uses from a soap to shampoo - so that'll be interesting to try out. The soap is a combination of coconut, olive jojoba and oils - so it sounds a nice mix. I'll have to see what happens why I try it out.

BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow

Another of my favourites from this box, I wasn't sure about the colour until I swatched it and instantly fell in love. This is a very pigmented colour and this swatch was done just purely with the product from the lid - I was amazed. I got 'Platinum Tiara' which is a gorgeous metallic grey, I can see this being a re-purchase already as both my mother and I are in love with it.

So like I said probably not the best box I've had, but a couple of great products in there. However I am excited for the 24th.

What do you think of this month's box?

Sunday Summary

Hi lovelies,

So today is the first of my Sunday Summary posts, I've wanted to post my Instagram photos for a while but I've never gotten round to documenting the whole week before, and have managed to do so this week.

1. Went shopping to Brum with the mother and I got this. Eep, I love the Muppets and so I couldn't help myself when it came to this mug. I really love it. I'm slightly obsessed.

2 - 4. Easiest way to do it combine these three, so it was Valentines on Tuesday and the boyfriend and I said we'd have a quiet one and he got me these lovelies. I'm not usually a flower girl but I really do love these flowers, and smell lovely.

5. Was happy when this was released this week, I didn't get round to seeing it in the cinema so looking forward to watching this when the uni work load lightens.

6. This ice cream brings back so many childhood memories of going on holiday to Spain. Unfortunately Pingu is missing an eyebrow but I still love him, and the ice cream is yummy (breaking my diet slightly but it's only a little snack).

I hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know if you want to see more of these. I will be doing a full haul of my shopping trip to Brum as I got some lovely Mac goodies to share with you all.

Naked Palette vs. Naked Palette 2

Hi lovelies,

So I've been promising a comparison between Urban Decay's Naked Palette 1 and 2, and here it finally is. I was able to get my hands on this early when Debenhams had the exclusive early launch. After being in love with the first palette I couldn't wait to try the second.

I did have a problem with my initial order as it came smashed which was really sad. But it all got sorted.

Firstly the packaging is quite different, the original Naked Palette feels almost velvety which is something I really like about this palette. However you do find that with this material it is prone to gathering dust and product which can sometimes be annoying.

Onto Naked 2 with this they have completely re-vamped the packaging with the golden tin it does in my opinion make the product appear high end on the outside. However when you get inside I find it then looks a bit tacky and much prefer the inside of the first.

Urban Decay Colours

Naked Palette

Naked Palette 2

As you can see the colours are pretty similar in both palettes, however I find the Naked Palette 2 has a lot more bronze colours which are great for the summer. The second palette does however feature new colours: Foxy (first colour), Bootycall (third), Tease, Snakebite, Pistol, Busted (last but one).

However considering these are new colours I find some of them similar to those from the first palette.

Brushes and extras

The main difference for me with NP 2 is the new brush and mini lipgloss, whereas the first brush released with this was just a pure simple eyeshadow brush the new palette comes with a double ended brush. The new brush comes with both an crease and shading brush which if I'm being honest I'm not a fan of compared to the first brush.

The other extra with NP 2 is the mini Lip Junkie Lipgloss in the colour Naked, this has a minty taste to it and is gorgeous on the lips. It has a lovely formula and I find it's not sticky at all.

Overall thoughts

Personally I feel that if you own the one palette I don't necessarily think you need splurge out on the other palette. I find they are both very similar, but for me I think Naked 2 is that little more favourable just because of the selection of bronze shades.

There are pros and cons to both palettes, and I do love both of them. When thinking of that both these palettes come to around £70 may sound quite steep but if you like me like to make yourself feel better when splurging think of it as £12ish pound on one individual colour and the palettes then sound like a bargain.

Both palettes are great editions to any makeup collection, but if you are unsure about getting one and about spending the money, my advice would be pop into your local drugstore or TkMaxx only because you can find cheaper alternatives such as the MUA palettes or NYX.

However if you do want to spend on this palette I think purely for the various colours go for the first. I know I said I preferred the second but in general terms I do think the first will always be the best, and I find the brush better in that one.

Anyways I hope you enjoyed this post it seems like a while since I've done a full on review. Unfortunately I couldn't get decent swatches up as it's still the winter and to catch daylight when blogging is rare, especially when I was at uni til half 4.

Do you own either or both Naked Palettes? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Top 5 Monday: Eyeshadow Palettes

It's that time of the week again, and sadly I think I'm coming to the end of my top 5's as I seem to running out of ideas for the post. Anyways todays top 5 is going to be eyeshadow palettes, I did consider doing just eyeshadows but the majority of eyeshadows I own are in palettes so I figured it was pointless doing eyeshadows.

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette

I think everyone by know has heard of the famous Naked Palette, it's possibly one of my all time favourites. I am a big fan of nude colours and this fits the bill perfectly, I love the mix of light pinks, bronzes and browns. Colours in this palette can be used for both day and night time looks which is great.

When thinking about the price of individual eyeshadows this palette actually seems quite cheap, I know it doesn't seem that way when you're parting with nearly £40 for this baby but when individual eyeshadows are over £10 you are getting a deal with this.

This is probably one of the only palettes that I own that I use all the colours, you find in palettes there are some colours that you don't like and won't use. But with this I find there is the perfect balance of useable colours.

2. Urban Decay Naked Palette 2

I am planning a comparison review for this to either have up by the end of this week or possibly next. When I heard they were releasing a second one I was really excited about this, granted if you own the one you probably don't need the other but for me I love both.

Again this palette has a gorgeous mix of neutral everyday colours, I love the bronzes in this much more than I do in the previous palette. I think this will be my summer palette as it makes a great palette for casual two minute looks.

I love how many different looks these palettes can make and I'm really loving the mix of colours within this palette. I'm not going to go too much into detail as like I said I will be doing a review on this shortly.

3. MUA Heaven and Earth Palette

Now this is such a bargain for me, over the summer I was loving the neutral colours and so I figured I'd pick this baby up for £4 and what can I say I've been impressed since. I find this a firm favourite in my everyday palette, the set doesn't include any matte shades but that doesn't bother me as I love shimmers.

At first I thought some of the browns were going to be too dark but they are lovely on, I find the payoff and lasting power is great especially since the eyeshadows in the palette work out at less than 40p talk about bargain!

I actually did a review on this palette when I first got it, and since then I haven't changed my opinion on this product. I think I will be repurchasing this when I've finished with it.

4. MUA Starry Night Palette

Another MUA palette, gosh I really do love them. Stepping away from the neutrals we have the Starry Night palette. The palette features pinks, browns and greys and I love this for night time looks. I find again with this palette each colour is highly pigmented and has great payoff.

When it comes to blending, they blend effortlessly to create gorgeous shimmer looks. I love the range of colours in this palette, and adore the blues and purples. I couldn't believe how pigmented the black is in this palette I would say it's as pigmented as the UD shadow.

Again I have previously reviewed this product, and my opinions haven't changed on this.

5. Smashbox Blue Eyes Palette

I was given this at Christmas from my lovely parents, my mom initially wanted to get me the UD NP 2 but that wasn't out at the time so she settled on this beauty. This palette is designed for people with blue eyes (can also be purchased for green and hazel) and the colours are ones that will flatter the eyes.

The palette only comes with six colours and are designed to create two looks: soft and smoky. Both looks contain three colours, and at first I didn't think three colours were going to be enough but I was really surprised by this.

The choice of colours I find really simple yet affective and always find myself going back to this - something I wasn't sure I would with only six colours. Again I do want to do a proper review on this as I've been able to play around with it and fall in love.

Anyways they were my top five eyeshadow palettes, I hope you enjoyed. If you have any ideas for my top 5 posts let me know :)

NOTD: OPI Valentines Muppets Combo

The Muppets was officially released in cinemas today and I'm excited to say that I'm going to see it over the weekend. So in honour of both the Muppets and Valentines day I figured I'd do inspired nails.

(Excuse the mess around my nails)

I originally was going to paint Kermit on my thumbs but as Valentines Day is fast approaching I wanted something that could symbolise that also.

So what did I use?

I popped OPI's Ridge Filler on my nails to begin with - it was my first time using this product and got to save love it.

I used Animal-istic and Rainbow Connection from the Muppets Collection, and think they look great as a combo. Animal-istic is a gorgeous red with hints of shimmer in it, and I find Rainbow Connection just sets it off.

OPI's Nail Envy was used as the top coat, this for me has been a life saver to my nails. When I first heard about it I was set that I would not spend £16 on a nail product, but I caved when QVC had an offer on both and can't see why I was so against using it. It's helped my nails both grow and strengthen.

Thanks to my mom who got me Muppets kitchen roll - what can I say I'm obsessed.

Hope you liked my nails, and what are your Valentines Day plans?

OPI: Holland Collection

Hi lovelies,

So today was the release date for the new OPI Holland Collection, and of course after seeing which colours tickled my fancy I had to pop down to my local store which sells OPI and have a look.

There are a few more I want to get after seeing the colours in store but I think seven is enough at the moment.

Here's what I got:

LtoR: Vampsterdam, Dutch'Ya Just Love OPI?, Wooden Shoe Like To Know, Gouda Gouda Two Shoes, Pedal Faster Suzi and Kiss Me On My Tulips.

When I saw these colours I was instantly drawn to these, Vampsterdam is a gorgeous deep purple and at first I thought it would be similar to Lincoln Park After Dark and Black Cherry Chutney but instead it's very unique and a lovely edgy darker colour for the spring/summer.

Dutch'Ya Just Love OPI was one of my top favourites of this collection and I love how this warm purple has hints of coloured glitter inside. I'm a big fan of purple nail varnishes and this is different to others in my current collection. I can see this being a colour which will have a lot of wear during the spring months.

Wooden Shoe Like To Know is a lovely warm taupe colour with a shimmer - this is what drawn me to the nail varnish in the fist place. I thought do I need another taupe colour but when I saw this had the added shimmer I knew I had to have it. This is a colour that can be used for both everyday and special occasions.

Gouda Gouda Two Shoes is a lovely vintage pink - my favourite shade of pinks - with similar shimmer to the previous two polishes. This polish is a subtle shimmer, but still very eye catching, I think this will be a lovely summer shade to have on both my nails and toes.

Kiss Me On The Tulips is a hot hot hot shade of pink, it's a very bold statement colour which will be great for the summer and for me the ultimate girly colour. At first I thought it might be too vivid but I love it. This is a blue based creme and a complete rocker.

Pedal Faster Suzi is a gorgeous light pink shade with shimmer, at first I thought this would be similar to Nicole's: Kimpletely In Love but I've found now that it's not. This shimmer I think would be great either on its own or placed on top of another shade of pink.

And that is what I currently own from the collection, I hope you enjoyed and are you planning on getting any from OPI's latest collection?
