Now that October is finally here the days are getting shorter and colder which means it's time to pack the BB cream, fake tan and bronzers away and dig out those much beloved autumn favourites. I thought today I would share with you all my autumn essentials for this year.
For my face I have dug out my much loved Porefessional (surprised that I still had a bit left in my sample size) and Urban Decay's Naked Skin Foundation. What I really like about this duo is that when applied it gives a very natural matte finish while leaving skin very smooth and silk like.
The foundation has great lasting power so you can go out in a morning and know your foundation will last all day without powder. I have chosen this foundation as my autumn essential because I have personally found with this you don't need to apply a concealer as this does a great job at reducing redness and hiding imperfections.
Same goes for the Porefessional by applying this over foundation it will help reduce redness leaving your skin looking great in the colder months.
For blush (sorry I forgot to include it in the photo) my essential would be Benefit's Bella Bamba, it's been a favourite of mine during the summer and I will take this into the autumn with me. I love how rosy this makes my cheeks - and what can I say I want as much colour on my cheeks before the winter and the introduction of the peach shades.
Eyes wise I have again gone for Urban Decay but this time my essential would be the Naked Palette two, purely for the versatility of the palette. You can turn your summer looks into the perfect autumn ones by replacing your bronze shades for darker browns and smokey colours.
Normally I find in the summer I like to leave the eyeliner at home and go for a more natural eye, but now the autumn is approaching it is time to dig out my Super Liner - which I will add is probably the best eyeliner I have ever tried. A simple flick will be my statement everyday look for the autumn.
The trend I am probably loving the most this autumn is the darker lip colours, now normally I wouldn't tend to go for shades like these but after playing around with them I am really loving them.
My first lip essential would be my Burt's Bees lip balm in pomegranate as it not only tastes great but works wonders on your lips. As we know a lip balm is an essential during the colder months as cracked lips are not great - and mine have already started drying!
I have gone for Mac's Hot House from their Villain's collection, as this shade for me is the perfect fuchsia/purple lip gloss and has great lasting power. This is a very statement colour and also looks great combined with the ELF lip stick. Unfortunately the only problem with this is if you are not near a CCO you may not be able to get your hands on it.
For lipsticks I have opted for ELF's Beautiful Berry and Diego Dalla Palma's Rossetto Rosso as both of these shades are on trend for the autumn looks. Now if you know me you will know I love my pinks and natural lip colours so for me to like a berry and red lipstick is somewhat of a rarity. But I just love how the ELF lipstick looks so on trend at the moment but costs a fraction of other lipsticks.
The Diego Dalla Palma lipstick was purchased as part of the Snow White palette but I am loving this at the moment as it's a lipstick that once built up makes such a statement and who doesn't love a red lip?
You may be surprised to see that I have chosen two Models Own polishes as part of my autumn essentials but that is because I find these two shades great alternatives to both OPI and Nails Inc. With the colder months come muted shades - something I really love about autumn. I love being able to go for a colour which really can reflect the season - those crisp red/orange leaves and darker days, something I believe both colours reflect.
I went for Vintage Pink and Purple Grey as I just love the look of both polishes and shows you can still for those lighter colours if you want during the autumn, especially khaki greens and greys - which I need to get more of.
I have even decided I may be sporting Vintage Pink on Thursday at the Cosmo Awards!
So I hope you enjoyed this post, what would you autumn essentials be?
