Burts Bee's Limited Edition Giant Lip Balm

Hi dolls,

OMG! I cannot believe it is New Year's Eve, how quickly has this year gone?! I can still remember seeing 2012 in.

Anywhoo, following my Christmas haul a few of you were intrigued by the giant Burts Bee's lip balm so I figured I'd do a little review on it so you knew what it was and what the set contained. This was actually released about a month ago when the company celebrated their 21st Anniversary. The limited edition set contains 9 products which are set to last you through the cold winter months.

My mom knowing how obsessed I have become with this brand jumped to the website to have a look at the gift sets and decided to buy me this one. I was over the moon when I saw this and couldn't wait to get it open and have a look at the goodies.

So as you can see from the second photo how big the tube is compared to the traditional lip balm, to me it just makes the balms seem even cuter! Now when you look at the size of the tube compared to the products you get it can seem a little misleading but when totalled together you do a get a little saving.

The limited edition set contains:

Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter
New Refreshing Lip Balm with Grapefruit
Honey Lip Balm
Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
Rejuvenating Lip Balm with Acai Berry
Original Beeswax Lip Balm Tube
New Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter
Original Beeswax Lip Balm Tin
New Ultra Moisturising Lip Treatment

Usually my favourite product is the pomegranate lip balm, but since trying these out my favourite has quickly become the grapefruit lip balm. I think these are great little lip balms, and find that they all smell delicious and apply so smooth and quickly.

My go to product recently has been the ultra moisturising lip treatment, since being ill I have found that my lips have become so dry and this has really helped to get them back to normal. I am still currently using two of my old products up before using these regularly but figure I'll be on these soon the way I'm working through my balms.

This set is available on the Burts Bee's website for £24.99 and has a value of £34.51, which is great little saving.

If you are a fan of Burts Bee's this would probably be a great set for you also!

Have you tried Burts Bee's before?

Lastly, I'd like to wish you all a great New Year and hope that you see the New Year in with loved ones and enjoy your celebrations! Here's to a great 2013!

What I Got For Christmas!

Hi dolls,

So I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas, unfortunately I have been working non-stop since Boxing Day and tomorrow is my first day off since. So this post is a little late, but I wanted to share with you a few little things I got for Christmas.

A few of you got in touch enquiring about the projects I was working on so I shall probably be in touch tomorrow via email, so be on the lookout for those.

Anyways, onto my little Christmas Haul:

Typically I got mainly makeup and clothes which is fab, and I was actually surprised to get so much stuff as I hadn't asked for anything from my family as I'm getting to the stage where I don't really want a lot especially as my birthday was just over a month ago.

Unfortunately I couldn't photograph the chocolate as by now it has been eaten by my mom and I, and some of the stuff purchased as early xmas pressies. Silly me though I took the photos earlier and realised I hadn't included my little donut ring so had to do it separately - just look at how awesome it is!
I have been extremely lucky this year with presents for not only Christmas but also my 21st, and thank my family and friends.

I just have one little Christmas present to buy for myself using some money I got, and have the big decision between another Louis or go for Vivienne Westwood. However I am liking the damier speedy bags and stuck between the light or dark version of those.

Happy holidays folks, and what did you get nice this Xmas?

Terre d'Oc Organic Lipstick

Hi lovelies,

I hope you are all well and ready for Christmas! A little while ago I was invited down to an event held by Terre d'Oc in London, unfortunately I couldn't get down so they sent me one of their lipsticks to review.

Now I will be honest before this I had never actually heard of the brand so wasn't sure what to expect. However I did some research into the company, and found out that they are a French brand which first came together about 15 years ago. Their makeup and skin range is made from 100% natural and organic ingredients and is inspired from world cultures.

They sent me this lovely organic lipstick from their Moroccan-inspired range:

Terre d'Oc lipstick 207 Bois de Rose*

Now going from the first photo you may think that this lipstick looks really small in comparison to many brands, but this is something that I find makes it stand out. Whilst it doesn't look a lot the lipstick is actually 4 grams which is more product than you get with a Mac lipstick. Their brand is focused on eco-design which means that their packaging is reduced by 50% - something I actually quite like because it is easy to pop into your bag especially if you have a small clutch.

I really adore the packaging of this range, I find it's simple yet really cute and looks very organic in my opinion. I do like the organic seal on both sets of packaging as it gets its message out and you know that this brand will be organic.

When I looked into the ingredients of this lipstick I was quite surprised to see argan oil and butter have been used. However this is according to the website a Moroccan tradition and it nourished and highlights the lips. The website states that their lipsticks come in essential and natural lip shades which is something else I liked the sound of as I never think you can have enough natural shades.

Application wise this is probably the best lipstick I have popped on, I find that the shape of this is slightly different which means doing the outline of your lips is easier including applying it to the top of your lips. I am a little naughty at times and on my way out if I haven't put my lipstick on I will do so in the car and this is probably the quickest to apply.

Colour wise, this is spot on for me, a very natural shade with hints of gold/peach shimmer, which I think would be perfect going into the spring. Whilst this is a light shade it applies really light and creamy and the formula reminds me a little of the Mac Cremesheen range. Lasting power I find it does last a good 3-4 hours which is fab considering the light shade.

This range has really grown on me from the first impressions I have received about their lipstick, and are really intrigued to try out more from their makeup range.

The lipstick is at the higher end of the range at £16.95, but when you consider that you are now paying £14 for Mac and that is 3g I can justify the price. However there aren't too many shades to choose from in this range so that may be a negative for some of you who like a wide range of colours.

However all in all I do really like this makeup range and are already lining up some of their lip glosses to buy.

Have you ever tried this brand before? How important are eco makeup brands to you?

PS. I am hoping that some of you lovelies will be able to help me out with a couple of little projects, so if you are interested just pop me a little comment with your email and I'll let you know about it.

Melt Scented Candles

Hi dolls,

I hope you are all ok! I don't think I have spoke about my love of candles before on my blog so here is my perfect opportunity to do so. Now that the nights are darker and colder there is nothing I enjoy more than getting in my comfy's snuggled on the sofa with a glass of wine and a few candles lit in the living room.

Melt scented candles are very popular within the UK amongst celebrities and have been recently used in the X-Factor judges in their dressing rooms. Their scented candles are fragranced in order to intoxicate the senses, and come in a vast array of smells.

Melt Candles* in Saddle, Angel and Eden

The candles are handmade in the UK and each take 36 hours to make to ensure that they are beautifully fragranced. The site states that their burning time ranges from 22 to 70 hours depending on the size of the candle. What I like about these is that they not only host a wide range of smells but also candle size, varying from travel sizes to tall and fat.

I received Saddle in the luxury glass jar, and the scent is a mixture of: lavender, geranium, rose, lily, sandal, cedar, musk, moss, amber and patchouli. I absolutely adore the smell of this one, it fills the room up quite quickly but not to the stage where it becomes overpowering. It reminds me of the winter with the musky smell, and even when the candle is unlit the smell stays in the room for a good hour.

I adore the glass jar that this comes in, it not only saves the need for buying a candle holder but can be used once the candle is finished. One side is decorated with a small pattern whilst the other is branded with the company name.

This bigger candle is set to last around 70 hours and retails at £21, which considering how pretty it looks is a bargain as I was honestly expecting a higher retail price. I also think this would make a great xmas present for any candle lover.

Angel is classed as a travel candle in its tin and is described as a mix of: dewberry, cassis, jasmine, rose, vanilla, patchouli, amber and a hint of chocolate. This is probably my favourite candle out of the two and is perfect for Christmas! Once again the smell isn't too overpowering but leaves the room smelling gorgeous. I've been using this one for my room to brighten it up a bit and can see this being repurchased in the jar size.

This size is set to last around 20 hours and retails at £7.50, so again I feel that this is a bargain.

Lastly, Eden is classed as a room scenter and is a mixture of: herbs, spices, precious woods and fig. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this scent but really do, it's smells very outdoorsy and mixes perfectly with Sandle. I quite like the size of this one as it can be placed around the house as it makes a cute little decoration, I think this size would be perfect for the bathroom!

This sized candle is set to last around 25 hours and retails at £8.

Since trying this range out, I have really fallen in love with it. I think sometimes you can spend a fortune trying to find those candles that smell just right and are perfect for around the home. However I will find myself trying out a few more from this range and can really understand why they are loved so much in the UK.

Have you ever tried these out before? What are some of your favourite candles?

Achica Review

Hi dolls,

I hope you are all well, and have had a great weekend!

Now you may be aware from the TV adverts about the website Achica, which is a luxury members-only site where you can buy anything from furniture to beauty and fashion accessories. Now I hadn't really heard about the website until the advert and went along to have a look. I was quite surprised to see the extent of products that they sold, it did literally range from everything and they even had some vintage Vuitton - which was a winner for me!

What I like about the store is the fact that the stock changes, which is sort of like a flash sale. Achica homewear host a number of sales and the perks of being a member is that you are able to see what days certain sales are and be prepared if there is anything you fancy. They start at 6.30am and run for a number of days with a set amount of stock, and the discounts are fabulous you can find on some products you are getting at least 75% off which makes these products a bargain.

Now I did wait a bit browsing through the store to find something that I quite liked the look of, and stumbled across this little beauty:

Amanda Marcucci skull bracelet*

So this skull bracelet was from Italian designer Amanda Marcucci, now this bracelet normally retails for around £40 but Achica were selling this for £22, so major savings alert! This did come in other colours but they sold out quite quickly as I was eyeing it up with the gold skull.

I think this really works for the fashion styles lately and can helps style many outfits. This is elasticated so if you do have a bigger wrist it may not be suitable as it fits mine just right, and my mom tried it on and it was a little tight on her.

Now onto ordering on the site, creating an account is really easy literally took less than a minute to do so that was a big thumbs up. It's really easy to navigate round on there, you can either look at their promotions on the home page or pop straight to the category that you want.

I will warn you that delivery does take a while this order was placed on the 18th Sept and their estimated delivery time was 10-17th October, but this didn't matter as I wasn't in a hurry for the item. However I did in fact receive this item in November, I'm not quite sure what happened during the delivery of this item. So if you do like items to be delivered quickly, this may not be the website for you.

Saying this, if you don't mind the delivery time this is a fab website, and they stock such a huge range of products. I do infact keep checking every few days to see what sales they offer and have seem some real gems like the Rituals products at great prices.

Luxury doesn't have to cost a fortune!

If you do want to have a look on the website I have a code where you can get £10 off your first order which is FTSCHIC.

Hope you enjoyed, have you tried this website out?

Kerastase Initialiste: Hair and Scalp Serum Review

Hi dolls,

I hope you've all had a fab weekend! Now this might be my only post for the week as I have deadlines galore and so much work to do - the joys of uni so my blog will have to take the back seat until that is all done.

Anyways, I wanted to share with you all a little hair gem I have found recently, and a product that really works wonders on my hair. If you have heard of the Kerastase brand you may have tried their elixir ultime or any of their shampoo products.

Recently they released their Initialiste product which is a hair and scalp serum which "reveals hair that feels thicker, looks shiner and is more resistant to breakage".

Now I hadn't heard about this particular product until I had my hair done a few weeks ago, and thought as my hair and scalp is in need of some help at the moment I'd give this a try. According to the instructions this is a serum which is applied thoroughly to towel-dried hair, and can be applied to the roots and lengths.

Depending on your hair type, depends the amount of doses which you apply to your hair. If you are like me and have fine hair the product recommends two doses, and thicker hair it states four doses.

I wasn't sure when I first used this whether I'd see any noticeable results, however I must say it was love from first use. Lately I have been suffering from a really dry/flaky scalp and nothing I use is helping it, and at times it can get really sore. However I've popped this directly onto the roots and have found it softens the scalp so it's no longer sore and it reduces the flakyness.

When it comes to hair oils/serums I often worry that it will make my hair more greasy/oily so I do hesitate when using them. However this doesn't have that effect at all, if anything I find it makes my hair look fresher for longer, and reduces the grease - so that is a good sign.

What I like about this is the pipette that comes with it, for applying the serum. This way you can control the amount that you use - and honestly you don't need a lot. The smell of this is gorgeous and love applying it to my hair. All in all it's a really great product, it recommends using the serum every 2-3 days and I just pop two doses straight into my roots and work downwards. I have noticed a big difference when using it and really does help the condition of my hair.

I can't say I've noticed my hair looking thicker - but I never have!

I will say that this 60ml bottle does not come cheap, it retails at £40 which is more than the elixir. However you only need the smallest amount so it is guaranteed to last ages. Despite the price I would probably repurchase this when I finally use the bottle up (which I can see lasting like a year!)

Have you tried any Kerastase products before?
