I know I am a little late with the posting of this as we are now on the 4th Jan , but hey better late than never. Now I was surprised at how hard it was to narrow it down to just 12 products, and I wanted to have a range of items to show that you don't have to always buy the more expensive brands to get some great makeup.
Now honestly, I have been loving the drugstore brands this year from the Revlon lip butters to Maybelline's Fit Me collection. Onto the top 12:
Some of these have had individual reviews so won't go into too much detail, but I'll pop the link to the reviews underneath.
I think most people have heard about this little miracle cream, and I think it's great as an overnight fix to reduce the redness and size of spots. You can look a little like a ghost depending on how much you apply but when the tub doesn't cost much looks don't matter once applied because you wake up the next morning with a visible improvement to your skin.
Real Techniques Buffing Brush
Once again this is another hyped product, and one that lives to its expectations in my opinion. I think this applies foundation flawlessly and due to this it only takes a couple of minutes to properly apply my foundation and have it blended. This comes in the core set which is a fab set for £20 as essentially each brush works out at £5 which is nothing really, you can buy a similar brush on its own but I'm not sure on the quality and have heard it's not as great as this.
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
I haven't been using this foundation for long but love it so much that it has made my favourites list, now I don't want to go into too much detail because I plan on doing a full review. However this is a fab foundation, it's medium coverage but I do find it hides blemishes really well and looks fab once applied. It has a great lasting power and I love how light weight it feels on my skin.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
A second newly used product to make the list, now I normally like higher end concealers but this one has quickly become a firm favourite. Once again it's a medium coverage but I find for my skin it works really well and covers any extra areas that need so really well.
Pixi Natural Brow Duo
It was my mom that actually introduced me to this product (thank you), and I did a review on this a little while ago. This is actually my favourite brow product to use as I find it very natural and love the gel side of this as it keeps the hairs in place whilst tinting them slightly.
This one has mixed reviews from bloggers, but I have really grown to love it over the year. I love the velvety texture once applied to the skin, and gives a matte finish which works well on my skin as a primer. I do find it reduces redness slightly, but I don't love it for those qualities - but instead for the smoothness on my skin prior to apply foundation.
Benefit They're Real
Another much loved product, I am now on my second bottle of this (which included a mini). I just really like the overall look once applied, I find it adds length, thickens the lashes and slightly curls them. However my favourite way to wear this mascara is by curling my lashes first and then popping this on top as I find it applies slightly better.
Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick
This collection is simply amazing, I was really excited when the matte collection was launched following my love for her first Rimmel line. The range is fab, I own three already and got 107 not knowing if it would be too dark for my skin tone, that's not the case though as I really love how it looks on and is great for nights out.
Real Techniques Blush Brush
When it came to applying blush I always relied on my trusty Sigma brush until I got my hands on this, it's the perfect shade I find to apply to my cheeks. The tapered styling also means you can apply blush lightly onto the cheeks and then blend it in, so you don't start with bright cheeks that look a little clownish. I didn't know it was possible to fall in love with a brush hehe!
Burt's Bee's Lip Balm
Won't go into too much detail as I have my review of the big set below. However I will just simply say - best balm ever!
Sleek Rose Gold Blush
A great dupe for Benefit, I adore this blush. The colour is gorgeous and perfect all year round, I think in general their blushes are great quality and can rival some of the premium brands. I adore the black packaging as it looks really stylish, however my only gripe is that I have to use my tweezers to open it.
Urban Decay Naked 2
I think every woman and her dog knows about this palette, it's simply amazing. I know when you think £36 for a palette does seem a little pricey but I like to compare it to the price that they charge individually for each eye shadow. The palette is so versatile in terms of colours and looks, I can do a simple everyday look with the shimmers and then change that to a night time but simply adding darker colours.
I hope you enjoyed, and what are your favourites of 2012?
PS. I'd like to say a massive thank you to all you lovely ladies helping me out with my project! I love you all.
