Top 5 lipsticks: LtoR (Swatches) Revlon Berry Smoothie, Kate Moss by Rimmel 08, Soap & Glory Pom Pop, Mac Up The Amp and Kate Moss by Rimmel 107
I've jumped on the bandwagon with my top five Autumn/Fall lipsticks, however with good reason. Now this time of year a part of me would always quiver inside with the thought of darker lips and experimenting more with colour. I have always been the girl who'd never venture from safe shades and would prefer more natural and pink shades, just to be safe. I blame my skintone if I'm being honest because every time I'd be cautious of different colours incase I had the misfortune of drawing the colour out of my face and just never knowing what darker shades would suit.
However over the past few months I have experimented a lot more with colour choosing to be different with the shades that I was picking, no more cautiously looking over the darker reds and purples until I got to my safe pinks. Now I know a few of these shades are popular amongst a lot of people but were a risk for me with never venturing into these types of colours. Admittedly I'm glad I have, because not only do I feel more comfortable choosing different shades but more importantly I feel more comfortable wearing them out which is a big bonus personally.
Anyways onto my top shades.
Revlon Berry Smoothie
Now I think it's essential to have a Lip Butter in my top five shades, I own quite a few of these and constantly wanting more. I think these are important to use in the colder months purely because it contains the texture and moisturising qualities a balm, as well as the colour of a lipstick. This means that when your lips start to dry up (which mine have already started doing) these are great to pop on to moisturise the lips to prevent dry and sore lips.
I find that this is quite a natural shade, kind of like your lip shade but better and I like to mix it up during the Autumn with natural and darker shades. Once on it's a little darker without being too overpowering which makes this a perfect Autumn shade for everyday purposes.
Kate Moss by Rimmel 08
Now I have been hooked on the Kate Moss collection for Rimmel ever since they launched and my collection has been ever growing since. 08 I find is a beautiful mauve which again is a perfect everyday shade that looks good without being too overpowering and for me personally I find it warms up my complexion a little. The formula is a creamy which means its really easy to apply and find that the formula doesn't dry the lips at all, a formula must have for the colder months.
Soap and Glory Pom Pom
This is a lipstick that I absolutely adore yet don't use enough, Pom Pom is a deeper reddish pink with purple undertones. It's the first Soap and Glory lipstick that I tried out and were amazed by the quality, I adore the velvety texture that this has and find that despite the matte finish it doesn't cling to any dry patches of feel drying on the lips.
I think this is the perfect shade for those who don't quite want to venture into a red lip but still want something a little bolder, that will stand out. I do think this is quite a vampy shade which makes it a perfect Autumn colour.
Mac Up The Amp
Now when I first got this I didn't know whether I had made a massive mistake or a risk that paid off, I got this applied on the Mac counter to make sure it suited and were surprised at how well it suited my skintone. If I had looked at this the same time last year the thought of owning a purple lipstick would have terrified me, but now I'm learning to experiment more and are already eyeing up 'Rebel'.
Up The Amp is a bold plum shade, which is a fabulous colour for those who want to take a risk with their look and change it up a bit. The lipstick is an amplified cremesheen which means that one it will provide a good solid colour whilst also giving a creamy formula that is easy to apply and doesn't dry the lips. Personally I think that a purple shade is a must have Autumn colour for every collection.
Kate Moss by Rimmel 107
This probably is the must have shade for any Autumn collection, one of the most talked about Kate Moss lipsticks 107 is a beautiful bold red matte. I had spent a good while toying with the idea of this shade and even after purchasing it I wasn't sure that this was a shade for me having never seeing eye to eye with red lipsticks. 107 is a gorgeous deep berry which I find is such a great versatile shade as it suits virtually any skintone and looks great for both day and night.
Despite this being a matte formula it's another lipstick that I find hydrating on the lips, which means I won't worry whilst wearing this that my lips will end up a sore mess. The lipstick itself has a velvet feel to it and glides on really easy and effortlessly.
So there we have it, these are my top choices for Autumn/Fall lipsticks, I'd love to know what you're favourite shades are for this time of the year?
