Carmex Moisture Plus Tinted Lip Balms in Pink and Berry Sheer Tint*
Today I feel really has started off the Autumn season as it seems to have dropped a lot colder, meaning it's not only time to whack the winter clothes out but it's also time to get lip balms at the ready. The colder weather really signifies dry and cracked lips for me, which is not only sore but also a pain in the butt. I am a big fan of tinted lip balms giving a hint of sheer colour tint, whilst moisturising the lips so could not wait to try out Carmex's Moisture Plus Tinted Lip Balms.
The lip balms come in slim and sleek twist up tubes, similar to a lipstick tube. Being so small these are the perfect size to pop in your bag or clutch as they easily fit and don't take up too much room. In the bullet both look very pigmented which I was quite surprised about, I really think they could pass for lipsticks if you were to place them amongst those.
I love that the lip balms come with a slanted tip which means that applying the balm is very easy and could be done without a mirror. The slanted tips also help to ensure that the balm is applied evenly and glides on quickly. As soon as the balm hits the lips you can feel the moisturising properties which is a major bonus for me. I love that if you are a bit heavy handed it doesn't feel heavy on the lips.
I don't think that these are as hydrating as the classic Carmex lip balms, but because of their buttery texture I find that they are still quite hydrating. Once applied the pigmentation doesn't apply the same as the bullet, both give a subtle hint of colour which I find is the your lips but better look. I find the sheen given from the Pink Tint is absolutely beautiful and love the overall look of that one in particular.
Now my biggest gripe comes shortly after applying these to my lips, I'm not sure if this is a common problem at all but as soon as I had applied both I began to get a burning feeling in my lips which was a little uncomfortable to say the least. The burning was probably more prominent with the Pink Sheer tint meaning I had to pop it off quite quickly after, whereas the Berry tint soothed down soon after. I was a little upset that the pink one burnt the most as it was probably my favourite out the two when applied on my lips.
I've never had a problem with Carmex before so not sure why I got this reaction when I applied these, very strange.
I did keep Berry on my lips so that I could test the lasting power of these and found that they only lasted around the hour mark, however despite this my lips still felt really smooth so there wouldn't be a problem with constantly re-applying as this is something I do frequently with lip balm to make sure that my lips are constantly hydrated.
These are priced at £4.49 which is a fab price for the product itself as the Tinted Lip Balms come in a variety of shades, however due to the fact I encountered the strange burning sensation I don't think I'd be buying anymore just to be on the safe side.
Have you tried these out? What are your thoughts, and have you ever encountered the burning sensation?
