Winter Skincare Essentials
I always find that you know Winter is here to stay when you find yourself reaching for those certain products that you haven't used in a while, and yes I'm looking directly at my trusty lip balms when saying this. So with the cold months upon us I thought I'd share some of my must have Winter skincare essentials, that help keep my skin hydrated, glowing and overall looking fresh.
Anne French Deep Cleansing Milk
This is something that I have used since my early teens, thanks to my mom, and honestly still to this day is one of my all time facial cleansers. Its milky formula gently removes any makeup and oil from your skin, and afterwards leaves my skin feels really smooth and moisturised, best of both words really. With my skin suffering from dry areas especially in this winter this soft cleaning milk is a must have amongst my skincare regime.
Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Spot Treatment Gel
One of the major issues for skin when winter begins is the drastic change in temperature, and because of this we are more prone to breakouts. Hence the need for this product, their anti-blemish spot treatment gel is a gem when fighting those pesky breakouts. I find that by applying this a couple of times to spots, it will naturally shrink, redness will reduce and it will disappear in around 3 days which is fabulous. I always find as well if you can feel one of those pesky blind boils (as my mom calls them) it's always best to pop this on before it rears it nasty red head and try and reduce it before it fully comes to an head.
Burt's Bees Lip Balm and Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm
Burt's Bees for me is a brand that I cannot rave enough about, I adore their balm range especially the two featured. Their replenishing lip balm with pomegranate oil being my favourite product, I find that this works wonders to soften the lips. Not only does it smell divine which makes you constantly want to apply, but your lips do instantly feel replenished and soft.
However if you are suffering from painful dry lips I do recommend the Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm for extra moisture. This particular formula glides on really smoothly and instantly your lips feel better and more moisturised. If you are after conditioned lips I think this will have better effects than the first.
L'Occitane Rose Petals Shea Butter Hand Cream
I adore the L'Occitane Rose Petals Hand Cream, as it not only leaves your hands feeling super soft and moisturised but the product smells lovely. The formula does not leave your hands feeling greasy and absorbs really quickly into the skin, which is perfect whilst on the go. This is a great product for the colder months as it adds a dose of hydration to the skin, and leaves your hands feeling soft throughout the day.
A miracle product for quick skin fixes, as mentioned previously the cold can wreak havoc on your skin and make it more susceptible to pesky breakouts. I find that by popping this on spots over night can have great effects the morning after, instantly redness is reduces and spots are less visisble. I know this is a marmite product for many as for some it works and others it doesn't but I know personally for me this has brilliant effects. A must have if you are after a quick skin fix for blemishes.
Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream
This sample pot was something I actually picked up last month, whilst I was in London and the sales assistant actually told me how this was one of her favourite products. It's Potent is designed to help fade dark circles and smooth fine lines, unfortunately I can't comment on the fine lines aspect of the eye cream. However there is something after the winter that always leaves my eyes looking dull and faded, and popping this on both day and night really helps brighten up my eye area. When applied underneath makeup it hydrates the skin leaving it looking fresh and ready to battle the day, the formula is extremely moisturising and smells amazing which is always an added bonus.
I have included Vaseline not as part of my lip care routine but rather as part of my skincare routine, I quite like using the Aloe Vera version on dry patches on my skin. I particularly suffer from dry spots around my nose and chin and find that by popping this on the problem areas over night for a couple of nights really works wonders on the skin, and leaves these areas feeling smooth. I figured with Vaseline being so hydrating to try it on my skin, and so glad that I have - a miracle product that doesn't cost a bomb.
Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub
Winter for me always means dry, chapped lips which is a big no no, lipstick is a pain to apply. It never looks good nor does it feel nice, so this is a little miracle product that I came across last year that helps when lip balm doesn't. The Lush scrub is designed to exfoliate the lips leaving them in tip top condition, and best of all you can lick the scrub off afterwards with its edible flavours. I will admit it may hurt when scrubbing if you're lips are exceptionally dry so would recommend lip balm after exfoliating. However it will help leave you with kissable lips for the winter.
Lancome Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Moisturiser
Lancome's Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Moisturiser is one of my favourite facial moisturisers, especially when my skin decides to have a breakout. The formula is really smooth and soft which means it glides on effortlessly and instantly skin feels revitalised and nourished. Not only does skin feel hydrated but I find it gives this healthy glow once applied, despite the premium price tag I really believe that this product is a winner in the battle against winter-prone dry skin.
Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter
So it's all well and good talking about facial skincare essentials but the body needs nourishment as well. This is where Soap and Glory's The Righteous Butter comes in, this lightweight body moisturiser works wonders on dry skin and smells gorgeous. The butter is extremely easy to apply and sinks in within seconds and doesn't leave skin feeling greasy or oily. Some of the main ingredients include aloe vera and shea butter which lock in moisture allowing skin to stay soft.
So these are my winter skincare essentials, I'd love to know what yours are!
