MAC Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick £15.00
MAC have become quite renown for their Viva Glam campaigns, and this year saw MAC appoint Rihanna as their new official Viva Glam spokesperson for 2014. These campaigns serve as part of their MAC Aids Fund, which donates all of its profits to women, men and children who are affected by Aids and HIV. The latest additions to the Viva Glam range come in the form of a limited edition red frost lipstick and lipglass.
Now red is normally a colour I stay far far away from, but I've started to feel adventurous and want to delve into shades that I wouldn't normally feel comfortable wearing. For me red is always something I have never felt suited my skintone but since going darker with my hair it seems to have warmed my complexion allowing me to wear darker shades.
MAC Viva Glam Rihanna is a gorgeous blue toned red lipstick, which I find really flatters my skintone. For me this is a strange red lipstick, because I find it so versatile, when lightly dabbing this on to the skin it gives the appearance of a wearable deep pink. But when properly applied I find the shade to be a slightly muted red with more neutral undertones, which I find makes this so different to your standard assortment of red lipsticks. I think this is the main reason that I have fallen in love with this shade, due to its wearability and suitability on my skintone. The formula is a frost finish which means that the finish should be quite shimmery, however whilst I think that the shade looks quite glossy I wouldn't necessarily say the finish was very shimmery.
The lipstick itself is packaged in a striking limited edition matte red bullet - completely different to previous Viva Glam lipsticks - with Rihanna's signature adorning the inside of the bullet. I have to say this is my favourite packaging ever for a MAC lipstick.
I find that the lipstick glides across the lips quite easily, and doesn't tug at all. I popped this on whilst my lips were a little dry and found that it didn't cling to any dry patches either which was a big bonus for me. Frost lipsticks are known for not having great staying power in comparison to other MAC formula's however found that this lasts on my lips for anywhere between 3-5 hours without fading.
The lipstick retails for £15 which is a standard price for MAC lipsticks, and honestly how can you resist when you know it's going to a good cause? I picked mine up last weekend and the girl on the MAC counter told me that it hadn't been advertised in stores properly which means that you may still be able to get your hands on it, without it being sold out. Honestly I was shocked to get mine on Sunday thinking they would have all sold out on the Friday.
Have you tried Viva Glam Rihanna? I'd love to know your thoughts!
