Jacava Nail Polish

Jacava Nail Polish* LtoR: Top Coat, Oxford Street and Pink Whisper - £14.50

Many of you may be aware that I happen to have a slight obsession with nail polish, and therefore can never have enough pinks, purples, top coats ect! When Jacava offered me the opportunity to try some of their polishes out I couldn't resist and chose Oxford Street, Pink Whisper and their UV Top Coat.

Javaca London is a brand that produce high gloss, long lasting and '8-free' nail polishes, now when I first heard of 8 free I wasn't quite sure what they meant by that. Their 8 free slogan actually means that their polishes are free from 8 potentially harmful ingredients that are known to cause various health problems (scary I know). Each nail polish is free from: formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, parabens, camphor, toluene, DBP, animal ingredients and phthalates.

I think I will just start off by saying how pretty are the bottles? Everything from the top hat logo to the gold handles. I love that Jacava use 22 carat gold on every bottle, it just adds to that luxurious feeling. These nail polishes are different to others that I own purely because of handle of the brush, you can see in the photos these are quite long and I find that it just helps with the precision of applying the polish to your nails. Not only this but you can notice in my photos that the brush actually reaches the bottom of the bottle, so you don't have to worry when you reach about halfway down about having to turn and twist the bottle to reach product - something I really love about this!

They have an amazing shade range so there is something to suit everyone, and what I love about their website is that they have an online colour selector which allows you to try on different shades to get a feel of how they would look on your own nails. I know I played it safe with choosing two shades of pink, but hey I stick to what I know and love. I was also sent their UV top coat which I didn't realise not only helps your nails look shiny and avoids chips but this top coat also helps prevent your nail polish from fading and discolouring - something this top coat wins top marks for as I have discovered a couple of favourite top coats of mine are tending to do this more recently, leaving my mani looking a discoloured mess.

Formula wise, these are quite thick polishes but aren't opaque after just one coat. You do need anywhere from 2-4 layers depending on the colour shade. However I like that these are thick and quite creamy because it means that when I apply to my nails I haven't got to worry about not having enough on the brush and it going streaky (if you have long nails I'm sure you know what I mean).

I've tried both colours with the top coat and find they last well and don't chip easily. Sometimes at work I will be doing various bits and bobs that will always result in a chipped nail but these survived and managed to last a good week and a half before seeing an chips in the side on my nail.

Overall I'm really pleased with Jacava nail polishes, whist they are on the slightly pricer side I do think they are a great product not only on appearance but for their health benefits also as they come free of the harsh chemicals.

I'd love to know if you have tried Jacava out before? What are you're thoughts?
