MAC Whirl Lipliner - £12.50 - Link
One thing you may not know about me, is that I'm obsessed with the Kardashians. This means on a Sunday night I'm hooked on my weekly fix of KUWTK, I've played the Kardashian app and I'm always browsing their clothes / beauty lines online and in store. With saying that over the recent months I have fell in love with Kylie Jenner's style, and most notably those lips! After a bit of searching on the internet I found that Kylie re-creates her infamous 90s lips with MAC Lip Liner in Whirl.
Obviously I went in search of this lip liner and luckily enough my local MAC counter had one left in store *lucky me*. MAC Whirl is described as a dirty rose, which I think is quite accurate - the only thing I would add about this shade is that I find it more on the deep pink / brown side. Once applied this is quite neutral on the lips, and just adds a bit of extra depth to the colour of my natural lips.
Now I will say I have never considered buying a lip pencil purely to use on its own, however I was really surprised at how this applied. I have only used them previously to outline the lips never fill them in completely. I will say this, Whirl is quite matte which means that once applied this is drying to the lips and is a little difficult to apply, but you do get the hang after a little bit.
I can understand how Kylie is able to outline her lips further to give the impression of larger lips as this is one of those shades that allows you to exaggerate the natural lip line without looking too weird. Obviously I haven't tried going completely OTT with this, but natural adjustments here and there, and I can see how this leaves your lips looking very flattering. Whirl is a stunning shade, one that I would have never thought to lay my hands on if it weren't for Kylie Jenner, and honestly makes me want to venture into more brown / mauve shades.
I was really surprised at how long this lasts on the lips, with being a lip liner I was expecting a couple of hours max. However I popped this on today and noticed that it lasted an afternoon of shopping, and then through my tea. It was only when I had an ice cream that it did start to fade slowly, but I would say I got a good 5 hours of solid wear, which I think is pretty impressive for a lip liner. £12.50 may be a bit excessive for a lip liner but I think this is probably my favourite lip liner to date and worth the price.
Are you a fan of the 90's inspired lip shade?
