Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick Frambourjoise £8.99 - Link
I have to admit I'm always a little excited when it comes to new releases, and since the release of Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks I had heard so many positive comments it was only a matter of time before I got my hands on them. Personally for me I find them to be the best of the highstreet, and offer products that could honestly rival more luxury brands.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks are a liquid lipstick which gives your lips bold, matte and long-lasting colour with a 24 hour hold. According to Bourjois these lipsticks are lightweight and non-drying leaving a velvety texture that doesn't smudge during the day. Enriched with evanescent oils to help provide a soft feel, without drying your lips - which for a matte lipstick that is perfect.
I found it so hard to choose a colour as I was torn between all of them, however settled on a couple of colours which included Frambourjoise. Frambourjois is a stunning bright pink with subtle hint of red, as is perfect if you want to venture into shades of red but are unsure of where to start. I find that even though this is very vibrant I find that this shade is also very wearable, and makes a great day to night shade.
When applying, I find that this glides on quite glossy but then settles into a matte finish within minutes. I think this is to give you more time completing your application. In terms of formula, it's very light weight and velvety which glides onto the lips when applied with the doe-foot applicator easily. If you don't want something as vibrant you can dab this on your lips with your fingertips for a day time friendly shade.
For a matte finish I find that this isn't drying at all, and this is the reason I have included the swatch photo above. I purposely popped this on whilst my lips were quite dry as matte formulas have a tendency to pick up on dry skin and really make it stand out. However if you look at my lips you can see that this doesn't cling to the dry skin and doesn't really look that bad.
Does it stay on your lips for 24 hours? I can't answer that claim as let's be honest who would need to wear this for 24 hours? However with saying that, this shade in particular does not budge, I put it through the food and drink tests but it stayed put and remained as vibrant as the moment it was applied. I find that I can rub my lips and a little bit of colour comes off but you wouldn't tell when looking at my lips as the colour doesn't run or disappear, making it very durable!
Packaging wise, I adore the clear housing and the casing leaves them looking more like lip glosses rather than traditional stick lipsticks. I like the different coloured applicator tips so that you can easily distinguish the colours in your collection. I find that the packaging is simple with the Bourjois logo embossed on the back, but this gives the bottle a really high end feel to it.
For £8.99 I really don't think you can go wrong. I know quite a few shops are currently offering 3 for 2 offers on Bourjois, whether you purchase these in that offer or on their own, they are a great little investment to pop into your makeup bag.
Overall I have fallen head over heels in love with these lipsticks, and do live up to the hype that surrounds them currently. I have tried variations of these liquid matte lipsticks such as Sleek and Collection, but find the Bourjois ones to be the best so far. If you are after something that is vibrant and long lasting you have a winner here, and I can't wait to pick up more shades!
Have you tried Bourjois' Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks? I'd love to know your thoughts and favourite colours!
