Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes £22 - Link
The blogosphere has been in overdrive since the release of Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes, and I have to say I have been intrigued after reading various reviews and seeing it pop up over many blogs. So with Christmas looming I decided it was the perfect time for a new read.
If you have not heard of Sali Hughes before (where have you been?!), she is beauty editor at the Guardian alongside contributing editor of Red Magazine and owner of her amazing blog www.salihughes.com. Pretty Honest is described as a witty, wise and truthful beauty handbook for real women on what works in real life from Sali Hughes. With over 20 years experience, she shares her advice and expertise to help show women how to make the most of makeup's physically and emotionally transformative.
The book is separated into chapters focusing on specific areas, jam packed with many tips and tricks which come in very handy. As you go along with any beauty questions you may have, this book will answer these in the coming chapters - so get ready to drink in the tips offered. Some of the chapters you may find that you don't need to read and just flick through, such as Botox and mature beauty but may always come in handy for future reference. Some of my favourite chapters include salon etiquette, dealing with counter staff and learning about your skin type along with skincare routines.
Overall I found this book to be a brilliant read and was hooked from the first few lines, whether you consider yourself a beauty pro or a newbie wanting to learn more - this book will really teach you a thing or two in a way that is friendly and to the point whilst cutting the bs out. I couldn't put this down once I had started and is honestly a must-have for any beauty junkie.
