Fleur de Force The Glam Guide

Fleur De Force The Glam Guide £7.49 - Link

It seems that a trend sparked towards the end of 2014 and into 2015, as many of the biggest YouTubers ventured into new waters and put pen to paper and release their own books. There has been a considerate amount of hype and success surrounding these books, and with that I couldn't wait to get stuck into Fleur de Force's The Glam Guide! Fleur was actually one of the first YouTubers I discovered and have enjoyed watching her videos over the years so was thrilled to hear of the release of her debut book.

The Glam Guide is described as a complete guide that features topics including makeup, fashion, hair, health and fitness, body image and relationships making it different from many of the beauty manuals available to buy, meaning that there's a topic for every kind of reader and the perfect guide to reference back to should you need inspiration or to recap a certain tip or recipe.

I have to start by talking about how beautiful this book is, from the pretty pastel cover to the photography, typography and gorgeous illustrations by Sally Cotterill featured throughout. I don't know about you but flicking through these illustrations really make reading the book more of a pleasure. After all who can resist a book that stands on your bookshelf?

I find that the Glam Guide is a definite coffee table type of book where I don't see myself gravitating to it to read as quickly as possible but more for when I want a relaxing 20 minutes in an afternoon or before bed or even some inspiration. As soon as you begin reading the book you really get a feel for Fleur as a person and comes across very genuine in her writing, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading snippets of her personal life. Each chapter is very detailed containing some really useful tips, and proves to be a really interesting read, and I actually found myself enjoying each chapter - as I found this is aimed at a wider market from young teens just starting out in their makeup journey to thirty somethings who are after a nice easy read. At 23 I found myself thoroughly engaged in the book and found that the tips suited me and my lifestyle.

One of my favourite aspects of this book is the top tips that Fleur reflects on at the end of every chapter, and acts as quick reference point which is great if you want to quickly recap. I like that you don't get lost in the tips she gives within the book either, as I find sometimes you can read these manual type books and find yourself re-reading pages to fully understand what has been written.

Overall I found this book to not only be really interesting but beautifully designed also - I could spend so much time just flicking through admiring the beautiful illustrations. This is definitely one of those books that you won't read just once also as the tips will not fade with time and instead proves t be a great guide to refer back to.

Have you read The Glam Guide? I'd love to know what you think!
