Over the past few weeks there has been a lot of hype surrounding the MAC Cinderella collection, to the point where counters and online sites were sold out within a matter of minutes. If you know me  then you'll know that I have a rather big obsession with Disney, so in all honesty I was quite excited for the release of the Cinderella collection. While I was a little gutted that I missed out on the first wave of products, I was glad to get a couple of bits when MAC re-stocked last week.

MAC Royal Ball is described as a fleshy pink which is designed to shade, define and showcase the lips. This is a lustre finish which means that the formula is quite sheer yet moisturising, and once applied to the lips is a little nude, however it doesn't venture into the dreaded foundation lips which is a positive, but if you apply a little heavy it could have the tendency to wash you out a little. For me it's one of those shades that mimics your natural lip whilst adding a gorgeous golden glow, for a lift this looks perfect when combined with a natural lip liner such as MAC's Boldly Bare.

Lustre's are known for their sheerer formulas and the constant re-applying throughout the day. I find that this lasted around the 2-3 hour mark before needing to re-apply as it fades from the lips quite quickly. I find that if teamed with a nude lipliner I get around the 3-4 hour mark, so a little longer but still not too great. What I do like about lustre finishes however is the fact that if your lips aren't in the best of condition - and mine aren't currently - this doesn't cling to dry patches on the lips.

Now something that has divided opinion has been the packaging, and I have to admit I was on the fence, but now after seeing it in person I do quite like it. The pearlized light lavender blue packaging and gold detailing really screams Disney and Cinderella to me, and I think the child in me really loves it. While I do think they could have gone down other routes it's something different and will definitely stand out amongst my other MAC lipsticks.

I know it was only stated in my last MAC lipstick post but again this does venture on the pricier side at £17.00, which considering the formula and how sheer it is I don't think is value for money. And no way would I spend some of the amounts that they are going for on eBay and Depop - it's just honestly not worth it in my opinion. I think if this has been a little more pigmented in terms of colour definitely, but the fact it needs that little boost from a lip liner I'm just not too convinced.

Overall I think that Royal Ball makes a great everyday colour and is very comfortable on the lips without being drying. My only gripe is how pale this shade is, even against my skintone which I mean I'm that pale my doctor always ask if I'm ok ha! While the colour itself is lovely, it does need a little helping hand from a nude lip liner to really help make the colour pop, and for that reason this does fall on the bland side for me unfortunately.

What are your thoughts on the MAC Cinderella collection?
