I have to admit I am a sucker for new beauty releases, and whilst I was away spotted Benefit's the Porefessional Licence to Blot in Sephora. After hearing quite a lot about this prior to its UK release,  curiosity set in and naturally I had to add this to my basket and be on my merry way. I'd probably describe my skin as oily/combination so when a product is released that promises to help mattify the skin and blur the appearance of enlarged pores I'm always going to have to give it a go.

Licence to Blot is described as an instant oil-blotting translucent stick with tiny invisible blotting spheres which mattifies shine for up to 6 hours. The specially designed triangular tip targets shiny zones, including the sides of your nose, forehead and chin.

As a frequent user of blotting sheets, the concept of a blotting stick was something that really interested me. License to Blot comes in a retractable tube which is perfect for blotting on the go, the tube is smaller than the original Porefessional which means it's easy enough to tuck away in your bag taking it wherever you go.

The solid balm has been designed into a triangular shape, allowing for easy application in those hard to reach facial contours - I do have to admit it does remind me a little of a pritt stick, but thankfully does not resemble that when being used. I have to admit the shape does create an easy application, as I have a love hate relationship with anything in stick format because it sometimes can never apply right directly so I always have to resort to using my hands or a brush.

To use this you simply apply your makeup as you would normally, and then throughout the day use  License to Blot to remove any unwanted shine as and when you need to. Texture wise License to Blot is so smooth and to apply this glides easily onto the skin. I have been using short strokes or dabbing motions to blot my skin, removing excess oil and you know what? This stuff actually works once applied I find my skin looking matte and shine? It's gone!

Now I don't think this blots in the sense that blotting paper blots absorbing excess oil, instead it helps to mattifies the skin - if that makes sense. I do find you have to be a little careful when applying over makeup, because if you are trying to mattifying makeup and skin that is already oily it does have the tendency to smudge a little bit meaning you do need to clean up with a little concealer, but as long as you don't go too heavy handed you should be fine. When applied this doesn't feel heavy on the skin, instead it feels like I have an extra layer of Porefessional on my face.

My only negative with a product like this is that I have noticed that it has become a little dirty, and by this I mean foundation has transferred around the tip which does slightly gross me out because I'm forever cleaning anything like that as I hate the idea of placing something back on my face which is already marked.

Packaging wise, this is traditional Benefit featuring the signature Benefit Spy Gal and toy box packaging that for me will never get old. I love the brightness of it also, meaning it'll never get lost in my makeup stash and I just love how quirky it is.

Overall I think that if you are a fan of Benefit's the Porefessional range this will be a welcomed addition to the Porefessional family. This is perfect for reducing shine on the skin, and has replaced my favourite powder compacts and blotting sheets. Now I have to admit this doesn't last the six hours as advertised I have found it lasts more about the 3-4 hour mark but I can't complain as this helps my makeup looks fresh again. This is a fresh idea that I'm sure is bound to impress come its release in June!

Will you be getting your hands on License to Blot when it's released in June?
