September is officially here and that means the end of summer is fast approaching, and we'll soon be heading into Autumn. I will admit Autumn is actually my favourite season, everything from the bright colours to wearing my cosiest of jumpers and the warm makeup tones. So with the change in season comes a change to your daily makeup essentials, and I wanted to share with you my makeup switch in preparation for Autumn.
I think most will agree when I say Autumn is the perfect time to go a little darker and embrace matte lips and bold berry hues. During the Autumn I love to sport a darker everyday nude, and I love the combination of MAC Soar and MAC Mehr as they create a gorgeous rosy lip. When worn together your lip ain't budging, you don't have to worry about re-applying during the day and this is a great way of wearing the still on trend 90's lip. One I'm sure many of you will be sporting is the classic MAC Rebel, this deep berry not only looks great on many complexions, but is very wearable which is a big bonus. I find that this lasts all day, and settles into a gorgeous raspberry stain.
Autumn for me is all about satin or matte bases as I tend to find the colder months can leave my skin appearing blotchy and red which means I look for a medium coverage base. Recently I've been reaching for the MAC Pro Longwear Foundation and I can see this becoming my go-to foundation for Autumn. This medium coverage foundation packs some serious staying power whilst looking natural on the skin, especially when applied with my beloved beauty blender, banishing redness without leaving skin looking dull.
To create an Autumnal manicure I love to sport deep berry, vampy purple and warm copper hues. One of my favourite polishes has to be OPI Black Cherry Chutney, just the name shouts Autumn. To look at this just looks like a dark purple, however when the light hits the shade you are welcomed with a gorgeous cherry glitter that really makes this polish stunning. With only a couple of layers needed this manicure is easy to achieve and can last a good 10 days without chipping.
For me Autumn is all about sporting a strong metallic eye or glossy neutrals for everyday, and for that I love to use the Urban Decay Naked Palette as this can creates such flattering looks from the perfect neutral lid to a glossy metallic look. The range of shades means I can experiment with warmer hues to blend into the crease and create the perfect Autumn smokey eye or sweep singular colours across the lid on colder mornings when I'm craving an extra 10 minutes in bed.
I'd love to know how you'll be switching it up this Autumn!
