The High-end Makeup Starter Kit Edit

If you are a regular reader of my blog then it will come to no surprise to know that I am a big fan of high end makeup, there is just something about being able to treat myself to luxurious bits every now and then. I wanted to share with you my high-end makeup starter kit for those who want to upgrade your makeup bag or just invest in some luxury beauty, venturing into the crème de la crème world of luxe beauty and my top makeup picks that are totally worth the splurge!

Primer isn't always a necessary product, but something I like to use to keep my makeup in place. I'd definitely recommend the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - especially as they have a primer for every skin type. The oil-free option is water based which I love, meaning that this feels a lot more like a moisturiser when applied. This creates a really lovely base for my foundation and helps my makeup apply smoothly.

Choosing one foundation was a toughie as there are so many high-end bases that I like, but in the end I opted for Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua. The texture is so light and velvety which means that it works wonders on my skin, and the light to medium coverage is very buildable, masking imperfections without ever looking cakey. I find that this dries to a satin finish with a subtle hint of dewy-ness without ever looking too shiny against your complexion.

Concealer was probably one of the easiest choices for me, the Nars Creamy Concealer has been a firm favourite of mine for years as this is a lightweight formula that offers medium to high coverage. Once applied on this skin this covers any redness or blemishes without ever looking cakey nor does it crease.

Having oily skin means that powder is a must-have for me to keep my foundation in place throughout the day. The MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural has been a firm favourite of mine for many years, I really love using this powder as I find that if I do apply a little heavy handed or if I haven't patted off loose pigments this never looks cakey, and yet always remains really natural looking on my skin.

When it comes to blusher I personally don't think you can beat Benefit, their range of boxed blushers provide a gorgeous range of colours for different skin types. It was again hard to settle for just one blusher, but in the end I opted for Benefit Coralista, for me this blush is the perfect balance of pink and orange undertones complete with a gorgeous golden shimmer that I imaging would be flattering on most.

For contouring and highlighting there could only be one option and that is the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow. This palette is a very convenient two in one with the most luxurious packaging, that is swoon worthy! The sculpt shade is actually quite warm against my complexion which means it can double up as a bronzer, and provides the most natural looking contour. The highlight pan is a stunning champagne shade that leaves your skin looking radiant rather than shiny.

To set makeup I'd definitely recommend the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray as this really helps to keep your makeup stay in place all day and doesn't transfer acting like a hairspray for your face. If you aren't a fan of powder this is a great alternative to set your makeup without feeling heavy.

For eyeshadows it had to the Urban Decay Naked 2, but could easily have chosen 1, 2 or 3 as they contain a great range of high quality shades meaning that this palette can easily take you from day to night. This palette is full of pigmented shades from shimmers, to mattes and neutrals to smokey eye favourites. Complete with 12 blendable shades this palette is guaranteed to look amazing on everyone!

A brow staple I'd recommend would be the Anastasia DipBrow Pomade, this is such a good all round product for those with sparse or thicker brows. This instantly transforms your brows with ease, and stays in place during the day.

Benefit mascaras have always been a firm favourite of mine, especially the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. This isn't just your traditional mascara, after one coat your lashes are instantly lifted and curled whilst appearing a lot longer without weighing yours lashes down. By doing this it helps open your eyes giving the appearance of doll eyed lashes.

As much as I love my MAC lipsticks when it comes to high-end lipsticks my favourite has to be Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy, this is the most gorgeous cool toned nude lipstick that gives the your lips but better look. This lipstick shouts luxury, and is one of those that is so easy to wear taking you from day to night with ease.

It's only really been the past couple years or so that lip liner has become a staple in people's makeup collection, and when it comes to the best high-end lip liner I had to opt for MAC Soar Lip Liner, this is a gorgeous rosy nude that will work with a variety of shades either helps define paler nudes or creating the perfect base for darker rosier nudes.

I'd love to know your high-end makeup starter kit must haves!
