2015 Beauty Favourites

2015 Beauty Favourites
LtoR: Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder, Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes, MAC Charlotte Lipstick, Beauty Blender, Benefit They're Real Primer, Anastasia Brow Wiz, Nars Creamy Concealer, Make Up For Ever Hydrating Primer, Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette

2015 has seen my makeup collection not only grow, but venturing down roads and using products I never thought I would whilst discovering new favourites and jumping on the bandwagon for new trends from statement brows to liquid lipsticks. So without further ado I thought I'd share with you all my beauty favourites of 2015.

I finally decided it was time to try a cult favourite in the form of the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder, and boy this didn't let me down. Inside this pot of magic is a setting powder of dreams - bold statement I know but this stuff really is incredible - is a finely milled powder that gives such a silky finish to the skin which is so undetectable on the face, whilst containing light reflecting ingredients which leaves a soft focus on the skin. Perfect for setting your whole face, this stuff helps keep your makeup in place all day, with no need for touch ups throughout the day.

2015 has been a big year for highlighters, with some rather exciting new releases especially since the UK release of the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Highlighter. This is a rather new item to my makeup collection, but I haven't been able to put it down since I got it last month. Once applied this leaves a gorgeous rosy iridescent glow to your face, which is actually noticeable especially when caught in the light making all the right features pop!

It has been an exciting year for beauty lovers and NYX, as 2015 saw the brand re-launched in the UK, and now stocked at Boots making it a lot easier to get your hands on cult favourites. One thing I couldn't resist trying was the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, and a favourite of mine has to be Cannes. This is the most gorgeous dusky pink and the formula is like heaven in a bottle - it's not only creamy but very long-lasting meaning you won't be checking your lips constantly incase you need a touch up. Despite their matte name these are actually creamy and comfortable on the lips, and at £5.50 these won't break the bank.

My favourites wouldn't be favourites if they didn't include a MAC lipstick, and I really loved the MAC Giambattista Valli collection which was released earlier this year. I couldn't resist the colour Charlotte, which is a medium-dark bright red with cool undertones making it a gorgeous classical red. Being a matte formula means that this wears really well on the lips without bleeding, and is such a statement shade for the colder months. I just wish that this wasn't limited edition as I could then use it more without the fear of running out.

We had the Real Techniques Buffing Brush a couple of years ago as the HG foundation brush, and in 2015 we all raved about the Beauty Blender being the perfect tool for applying makeup. After countless YouTube tutorials I knew I had to get my mitts on this, and going in 2016 owning three I can now see why the Beauty Blender is a great tool to have. I have never applied such flawless looking foundation and concealer, and whilst it may take a bit longer to apply your products the end result is definitely worth it. I have just had to get backups to use when my other is looking a little worse for wear and in need of a good wash.

A new release towards the end of the year was the Benefit They're Real Tinted Primer, I actually picked the sample up earlier this year in Elle magazine and from the first try I knew I was onto a winner. As a fan of the They're Real mascara I wasn't really sure where this primer would fit but since using it I am converted and raced down on Boxing Day to get the full sized product. I love how natural this looks on lashes whilst lengthening and giving a bit of volume, and instead of opting for a white lash primer Benefit have gone for a tinted brown formula which means that this can be worn alone for a natural lash or under any mascara. Definitely worth getting your hands on in 2016!

My brow game has never been stronger thanks to Anastasia Beverly Hills and their amazing range. This was a toughie but in the end I went with the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Taupe, as this double ended pencil easily creates a good brow day. The tiny nib means it's easier to mimic brow hairs which can be lightly applied for more natural look or heavier for a statement brow. The fact that this is retractable means I'm not always on the search for a sharper and combined with a spoolie on the opposite end which is great for taming your brows before and after. A cult product that is definitely worth the hype.

An oldie but a goodie is the Nars Creamy Concealer, a firm favourite of mine now for the past couple of years this concealer can do no wrong. This concealer covers blemishes without looks flakey and can cover dark circles with an instant swipe. Despite being a heavier coverage I find that this never looks cakey and lasts really well on the skin. This is a love affair I don't see ending any time soon.

Who would have ever thought that the girl who loved matte would be raving about a hydrating primer? I've been totally converted by the Make Up For Ever Hydrating Primer, which has been my go-to primer for a good while now. It not only allows your skin to look healthy, but I've noticed that this really helps my makeup look radiant and lasts all day - even better than formulas aimed towards oily skin like mine. I like that they have the travel sizes which means you can try them out before splurging on the full sized product.

Last but not least was a release I got very excited about and that came in the form of the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette. Packed with 15 gorgeous shades, which ranges from naturals to brights, mattes to shimmers there's a mix of shadows to suit everyone's tastes. This is such a versatile palette and the buttery formulas make for easy work. If you can still get your hands on this I would definitely recommend picking this up as it's a welcomed change to the Naked range.

So there we have it, my stand out beauty favourites for 2015! I'm excited to see what 2016 brings in terms of new makeup releases, and I'd love to know what your favourite beauty products of 2015 have been!
