If you're a regular reader of CharmedCharlee it will come as to no surprise when I say that MAC Cosmetics is one of my favourite makeup brands. I can find myself regularly visiting my local Debenhams, spying online for the latest collections and even spending a vast amount of money on owning limited edition collections. I find that that whatever the shade, MAC will most definitely have it from a rainbow of lipsticks to a multitude of eyeshadows - you're guaranteed to find a shade you love. Surprisingly despite the vast amount of MAC themed posts on my blog, I've never actually shared with you my thoughts on the best makeup products and accessories from MAC, so you better get a cuppa ready as I imagine this could be a rather long post.
Naturally I had to start with my favourite MAC products and that is their lipstick range, I have never come across such an extensive range of lipsticks from shades to formulas. If you after a new lipstick I couldn't recommend their matte and satin formulas enough, especially the lipsticks: MAC Velvet Teddy and MAC Mehr, both two very popular shades with good reason. Velvet Teddy is such a universally flattering shade to wear, and very long lasting once applied. Despite being a matte formula this never leaves your lips feeling dry. Mehr is a satin finish which is applies as a semi matte formula, and is the most gorgeous mauve pink that is also very flattering to wear and makes a gorgeous everyday shade.
Having oily skin it's often a battle to find a foundation that is long lasting and doesn't leave my skin going oily after just a couple of hours of wear. This is where the MAC Pro Longwear Foundation comes into play, I know MAC foundations get a lot of bad rep for being cakey or breaking skin out but I've never found that with this. In fact this actually looks really lightweight on the skin and is one of the most long wearing foundations I have come across. I find that MAC have a really great colour range for foundations also, so you're guaranteed to find the perfect match.
MAC have such a great range of eye products, especially their Paint Pot eye colours. A must have for me is the MAC Painterly Paint Pot, this is such a creamy eye product that dries down to make the most amazing eyeshadow base that helps prolong the wear of shadows. This particular shade is such a versatile product as it can be worn as an eyeshadow primer, base or even concealer for the lids. The formula of MAC Paint Pots are so long lasting and don't crease or fade during the day, so would definitely recommend picking up a shade or two.
Definitely one of the best things to come out of MAC has to be the MAC Viva Glam range, for each sale of Viva Glam lipsticks and lipglasses the full RRP from sales go to the MAC Aids Fund, which I find really amazing as you normally find companies will donate 10-20% so to donate so much is really lovely to hear. Not only are the products donating towards a great cause, but the shade range is amazing, with a new spokesperson announce yearly the ranges are a definite must have for your collection!
One of my first MAC discoveries comes in the form of the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, I've never come across a powder that sits so nicely on top of a foundation, no matter how heavy you apply this it never looks cakey, yet always leaves your skin looking polished and flawless. This is such a must have product from MAC, so much so that I have purchased several over the years.
A recent addition to my collection is the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle, after seeing it featured in many top MAC products I knew I had to give this a whirl. This is the most gorgeous champagne highlighter that leaves your skin glowing - and in a good way! Instantly my skin looks more radiant and healthy, and if you want to brighten your eyes this makes a good eyeshadow to apply in the corners of your eye. A little goes a long way with this, so is a good investment product that will last a good several months.
I really love a good MAC Brush, despite the high price tag I find that many are so multi-functional, clean well and most importantly through all the applying and washing they last really well. The MAC 109 Brush is a firm favourite of mine, making contouring a lot easier. The small, rounded head fits perfectly in the hollows of the cheeks, and this also makes a great brush for applying foundation in those hard to reach areas such as around the nose. A blogger favourite has to be the MAC 217 Brush, and with good reason, this will turn even the messiest of eyeshadows into a work of art. The shape of this brush is perfect for blending eyeshadow and pigment just working away any harsh lines and makes it seem so effortless. Another multi task brush is the MAC 266 Brush, this is such a great brush for not only eyeliner but for filling in your brows. The small, dense shape allows for neat, sharp lines and leaves brows looking very natural.
A best of MAC post would not be complete without a mention of MAC Limited Edition Collections, they are the only brand that I get excited about when it comes to limited edition products - from the collaborations, to the packaging to the shades there is just something that gets my heart pounding. With gorgeous packaging from the likes of the MAC Cinderella collection to the gorgeous MAC Oh Darling highlighter there's always something to get excited about and if you are new to MAC I would definitely recommend checking out some of their limited edition collections.
Phew, we've made it - I did tell you it'd be a long one. I'd love to know what are you favourite products from MAC?
