Lip Kit by Kylie - Candy K & Dolce K
It seems that over the past couple of years we have all become obsessed with the Kylie Jenner lip frenzy, with everything from trying to hunt down her most coveted lip products to the #KylieJennerLipChallenge! When Kylie announced last month that she would be launching her Lip Kit by Kylie range typically the social world went into a frenzy with both release dates selling out in a matter of seconds. I was lucky enough however on the second release to get hold of Candy K and Dolce K, and after seeing such positive reviews I was intrigued to see what all the fuss was about (and secretly lusting after these products myself) and to find out if these highly coveted products were indeed worth the hype!
The Lip Kits contain a liquid lipstick and matching lip liner, and comes in the most stunning packaging - I just love how simple and minimalistic it is and just feels very Kylie Jenner if that makes sense. At $29 I was shocked at the low markup, because you know what happens when celebrities release hyped up products - they can end up costing a bomb, but surprisingly enough they were cheap-ish even when including shipping to the UK. I will be honest and say I wasn't really expecting much from the Lip Kit's, as I just imagined a lot of Kylie Jenner fans raving about the products purely for the name associated with them. However I have to admit I have been pleasantly surprised by both products in the kit.
Candy K is probably the one I was most excited for as I can never resist a dusty rose lip, and the rumour mill has it that this in fact Kylie' favourite shade from her range. The Velvet Teddy fangirl in me couldn't resist Dolce K, which is a stunning light brownish/pink with warm undertones.
Starting with the liners, I found that both glide onto the lips really easily and leave your lips feeling soft, which was surprising as I find a lot of liners do have the tendency to be quite drying, but this is completely the opposite - these remind me more of lip crayons than liner. In terms of pigmentation both are super pigmented, meaning that they not only line the lips but you could use these as a stand alone colour.
Moving onto the liquid lipsticks - this is where I really got impressed, the smallest amount goes a long way and you never need to re-dip for more product. The texture itself is quite mousey and light, but do feel a little sticky to begin with until they start to dry, which takes seconds to dry into a gorgeous matte. At first can feel a little drying but they do feel more comfortable as the day goes along. Both lipsticks are scented quite heavily scented, it reminds me a little of MAC lipsticks but on a much stronger volume - think vanilla overload. However that doesn't bother me too much as I love the scent and this does settle down once on the lips. I couldn't believe how long wearing both of these shades were, not only do they survive food and drinks but you can rub your lips and not worry about leaving a mess because your lips will still look intact with only minimal fade. I've found that these easily last 5-6 hours on the lips, with minor smudging, and during the day I like to apply a little lip balm just to stop my lips completely drying to the point of feeling like they could crack especially combined with the cold weather.
Overall I can see why a lot of people were raving over the Lip Kits, not only are the formula's long-wearing on the lips, but these stay matte whilst not budging or smudging. I have heard that Kylie will be expanding her range so I'm looking forward to seeing what her range will have in store.
I'd love to know if you had managed to get your hands on these? Or are you still lusting a Lip Kit by Kylie?
