Love it or hate it Valentine's is fast approaching, and for me I always find it a great excuse to get dolled up, whether I'm having a day out or enjoying a romantic evening meal. There is no better excuse to slap on some of my favourite makeup and just feel glamorous, and my routine is all about classic beauty in the form of glowy skin and a statement red lip. So with that in mind I wanted to share with you my Valentine's Day Makeup Menu.
Valentine's Day for me is all about creating a gorgeous glowy look, instead of my trusty matte face. MAC Harmony is such a gorgeous product that creates a really natural contour, this blends really effortlessly into the skin giving both definition and a healthy natural glow to the skin. Combined with NARS Orgasm, this stunning rosey pink shade is so flattering on the skin and I love the specks of gold that instantly lifts and perks your complexion giving your skin a beautiful glow. This blends really easily also so if you do think you've overdone it you can easily fix it, and I will be honest it's one of those shades that you apply lightly to begin with so go a little harder and then realise you may have gone a little OTT. To highlight I'm really loving the Benefit Watts Up highlighter at the moment, this is such a stunning golden highlight that when applied looks really flattering on the skin, and blends easily. Having oily skin I am sometimes wary of wearing highlighter as I don't want to emphasise any shine, but this gives the appearance of a dewy glow that never looks oily.
For special occasions I love to sport a warmer smokey eye and the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette is perfect for this, with a selection of stunning neutral rosy hues that not only create a gorgeous Valentine's look but the shades are completely wearable without looking like you've been smacked in the eye. These shadows apply like a dream, the texture is so buttery and the shades really pigmented, you're guaranteed a look that will last through the night. Now I can't sport a killer smokey without standout lashes, and my go to set have to be the Eylur Fleur de Force Simply Fleur Lashes. I love that these are really easy and comfortable to wear whilst adding enough length and volume to open your eyes, allowing them to pop.
As much as I love a red lip I wanted to change things up a little bit, and opt for a fresh take on a classical red lip. MAC All Fired Up is such a beautiful reddish-fuchsia that really complements this look without looking like you're sporting too much pink. Being a retro matte finish you're guaranteed a bold lip through food and drink, meaning you don't have to make any unexpected trips to the ladies room to check for any lipstick smudges.
For my nails I'm embracing Spring a little early with Essie Stones n Roses, this is a beautiful petal pink that looks so romantic on the nails. I really like Essie formulas also as they are chip resistant for up to 10 days, so it means that I can get my nails done a couple of days before Valentine's and not have to worry about re-doing if they chip.
To round things up I adore a couple of spritz of Marc Jacobs Daisy will do the trick, this is my signature scent and with good reason. This is such a beautiful floral scent that remains fresh on the skin all day long, because the scent is on the stronger side I find that this is perfect to wear on an evening.
I'd love to know what is your go to look for Valentine's Day?
