Kylie Cosmetics LtoR: Dolce K, Candy K, Koko K and Posie K

A little while ago I shared with you my thoughts on the initial Lip Kits from Kylie Jenner's Kylie Cosmetics range, now eight shades down the line and countless stalking of her Instagram account I have managed to get my hands on a couple more of her lip kits to not only share my thoughts on but to also compare to the original formula.

The Lip Kits contain a liquid lipstick and matching lip liner, and retail for $29 each. Each kit is encased in the most stunning packaging with Kylie's signature melting lips embossed on the box - being a packaging hoarder I really can't throw these away! Shipping to the UK is $14.95 which is a flat cost whether you're buying one kit or several and to be honest I don't think it's that extortionate, and as long as you aren't stung by customs - I know some people have - works out a good deal.

I had originally picked up Candy K, a dusty rose with nude undertones and Dolce K a light brown nude. My recent additions to my collection include Koko K a light pinky nude and Posie K a plum/rosy pink. Naturally I have opted for the nudes/pinks but I do like how she has expanded the range introducing reds and purples, saying that I have Kourt K on its way to me!

The lip liners glide on the lips so smoothly without ever feeling drying. These actually remind me more of lip crayons than liners purely for the creamy formula, and in terms of pigmentation these are super pigmented, so they not only line the lips but you could get away with wearing these as a stand along colour. I really think that these liners help give the liquid lipsticks something to grip helping the longevity of the lipsticks.

Now onto the liquid lipsticks, the shades are so pigmented meaning the smallest amount goes a long way and you never have to re-dip the wand for more product. The texture of these are quite light and mousey, and in a matter of seconds your left with gorgeous matte lips. These do feel a little dry when the lipstick is setting on the lips but after that you're good to go leaving a comfortable lip that doesn't feel dry nor heavy throughout the day.

When applied these last for ages without wearing, you can be eating, drinking the whole shebang and not worry about how your lips are going to look afterwards. I only find after three courses I'm looking at a minimal fade in the centre of my lips and a little flaking around the dry spots on my lips. These lipsticks are quite heavily scented, which reminds me of vanilla cupcakes similar to the MAC lipstick scent. But don't worry if you're not a big fan of scents as it doesn't transfer once applied on the lips.

I've noticed that since I got my hands on Candy K and Dolce K compared to the newer shades there have been a few changes from both the packaging to the formula. Not only has the packaging altered slightly - it's just a little shorter but don't worry there's still the same amount of product as the tube is deeper - but the applicator has changed also. The original was more flexible compared to the stiffer applicator in the newer formulas, to be honest I don't really notice a difference when applying as they both work really well.

The other change I have noticed is in the formula, I've found the newer shades to be a little more on the liquid-y side, the newer formula reminds me more of Colourpop and I will admit you do have to be a little careful when storing these as I've noticed the Koko K applicator getting flooded with product - but you don't have to worry about the product leaking as I have held it upside down to be on the safe side. Despite the watery formula I do think the newer ones dry slightly quicker in comparison to the older formula, but it's literally seconds difference.

Overall I'm loving the expanding range of lip kits and I still find myself glued to my laptop each time a new release is launched. Despite the craziness when trying to purchase any shade I would completely recommend trying these kits out. Not only is the formula so long-lasting but these could easily rival higher end formulas for a lower cost. I would probably say my favourite so far is Koko K as this is such a pretty nude that not only is great for everyday wear but definitely gives the appearance of fuller looking lips, and I can't wait to see what shades she releases next.

Have you tried any of the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits?

The Statement Brow Edit

The Statement Brow Edit

Believe it not many moons ago - a couple of years ago to be exact - I used to be such a stranger to brow products and would think I could do a full face of makeup and completely neglect my brows whether that be filling them in or attempting to pluck them into some sort of acceptable shape - that's never a good idea and I tend to leave it to the professionals. However now I am not only a regular waxer and tinter but also an avid brow shaper, filling in my brows until I'm left with defined brows. With so many brow products now available I wanted to share with you some of my favourites in my statement brow edit.

Before I start to fill them in I always like to brush them into shape to give me a basic frame to start with, I've really been loving the Make Up For Ever Brow Seal. This transparent eyebrow gel helps to form my basic brow shape ready to create my statement brows, and this also helps to set the brow hairs to keep them in place throughout the day.

I then have a few favourites to fill in my brows, when I'm looking for a natural yet defined brow I tend to opt for the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Taupe, this double ended pencil helps to easily create a good brow day within a matter of minutes. The tiny nib means it's easier to mimic your natural brow hairs, and can be applied either lightly or heavier depending on the look you want. I love that the opposite end comes with a spoolie as this is great for taming and shaping your brows afterwards should you need to.

A new brow product to enter my routine is the Anastasia Brow Definer in Taupe, which comes with an innovative triangular nib which helps you to achieve a multitude of different strokes. I have to admit in just the short time I've been using this I may actually prefer this to the Brow Wiz, as the shape of the pencil allows for a quick and easy application. The widest point of the nib helps to fill in my brows for a more defined look, whilst the sharp point helps to create a strong tail. The spoolie may look like a weird one when you first see it, but it's actually been designed to work with the new formula of the definer, and it just helps to soften your brows and works to blend everything together.

If I'm looking for something a little bolder I tend to opt for either the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Taupe or the NYX Eyebrow Gel in Blonde. Whilst both formulas are different in terms of consistency they both work exactly the same, helping to fill in any sparse areas of my brows and give them some life. I tend to use both in small amounts to stop myself going overboard to fill in my brows and define the shape to create something a little bolder than my usual daytime look. Both pack some serious pigmentation and the formula doesn't budge throughout the day so once you've applied your set quite literally.

To round everything off I can't resist a sweep of either Benefit Gimme Brow or the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara. Depending on the shade of my hair or my brow tint I tend to switch between the lighter and darker formulas of the Gimme Brow. Both of these are perfect for when you're in between tints and need to give a bit of colour to any non-existent brows - as I know this is the case for me. Both formulas don't clump in the brow hairs and tint as well as set the brow hairs in place so you don't have to worry about any brow mishaps in the day.

I'd love to know what are your go to products for statement brows?

Switching it up for Spring

Switching it up for Spring, Spring Makeup, Spring Beauty

How crazy is it that we are quickly approaching spring, not only does this mean a change in the weather but a chance to change things up in the beauty department - switching from dark vampy reds for peachy corals and matte foundations for tinted moisturisers or dewy finishes. Spring for me is all about going lighter with my makeup and I wanted to share with what I'm switching up for spring.

Starting with the base, one product I know I will get a lot of use from during spring is the Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue as I tend to go from having dehydrated to oily skin. This is such a fab primer as firstly this is not silicone based so it doesn't feel too weird on the skin and secondly this adds hydration into the skin whilst combatting oily patches. I like that this doesn't leave the skin looking too matte, but instead has a velvet finish and leaves the skin looking very natural whilst helping prolong the wear of my foundation and keeping shine at bay which is essential as the weather begins to warm up!

When it comes to foundation I prefer to opt for lighter, non-matte bases, and of my favourites has to be the Benefit Big Easy BB Cream, despite being labelled as a matte product I find that this instead has a natural skin like finish that allows you to skip powder and opt for a natural glow rather than a dewy finish that can sometimes leave my skin looking oily in a matter of hours. What I love about this is how incredibly lightweight this feels on the skin, to the point where you don't feel like you have anything on your face. This has a liquid to powder formula that means it helps to control any oil throughout the day and has enough coverage to hide any blemishes or redness which is great. Complete with SPF35 this is my go to product that will be by my side right through to the end of the summer.

As for cheeks I tend to opt for cream products rather than powder, to contour I can't wait to start using the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour again as this was a firm favourite of mine last spring/summer. This is honestly so easy to apply, you just simple swipe across the areas of the face where shadows would normally fall and then just blend, and boy this stuff blends like a dream, sculpting out your cheekbones in an instant. This is one of those products that despite being a cream formula dries to a powder and is incredibly long lasting on the skin. I like to team this with Benefit Majorette which is a gorgeous light golden peach, and is just so easy to wear. The peachy hues not only brightens the skin but leaves a pretty glow with a healthy flush of colour to the skin. To get my glow on I cannot resist a swipe of Benefit Watt's Up, this is a stunning golden highlight that is very flattering against my skin tone. I wore this all the time over the summer and cannot wait to be sporting this again, the formula blends so easily and gives the appearance of dewy skin without emphasising oil or shine.

A great alternative for when I want a bronzer/blush/highlight all in one is MAC Warm Soul, this stunning peachy toned blush is perfect for warming my complexion without the need for blush and bronzer as well as highlighting the tops of my cheeks without looking too overdone. This is one of those multi-task products that will not only save you time but leave the most beautiful flush to your cheeks.

For lips spring is all about pink nudes and corals as I like to keep anything brighter for the summer. Two of my favourite lipsticks come in the form of MAC Sunny Seoul and MAC Patisserie, both are gorgeous everyday options. As Sunny Seoul is a cremesheen formula and Patisserie a lustre these feel very moisturising once applied and gives a subtle gloss to the lips without the need for a lip gloss. As the weather starts to heat up these make the perfect transition from winter matte favourites. If I fancy straying from my trusty MAC lipsticks I really love the NYX Butter Gloss in Funnel Delight, these are some of the most pigmented glosses I have ever come across and don't feel sticky on the lips. Funnel Delight is bright fuschia which is great to sport on a night out, and once applied this doesn't bleed or smudge which is great considering how bright the shade is. These are something I can see myself buying more of for over the spring/summer months as they are just amazing glosses.

I like to opt for a lighter fragrance as spring approaches and my favourite lighter scent has to be the Taylor Swift Enchanted Wonderstruck, now this may seem like a little bit of an odd choice but this is one of those celebrity perfumes that is definitely worth a spritz in store! With blends of wild cherries and sugar-glazed petals this is such a lightweight and fresh fragrance that isn't too overpowering but light enough for everyday use. I'm already onto my second bottle as this is my favourite celebrity scent and something I know I'll be spritzing each morning.

I'd love to know how you'll be switching it up for spring!

Everyday Hair Styling Routine

Everyday Hair Styling Routine

After recently sharing with you all my everyday makeup routine I wanted to do something similar and share with you my everyday hair styling routine. I like to try and keep things quick and easy on a morning when I'm getting ready for work and over the past couple of months I've fell into a styling routine that is not only easy to create but leaves my hair looking great for the day ahead.

The first step is to prep my hair - now normally I wash my hair on the night or work with two to three day old hair as I just find it's a lot easier to style compared to freshly washed hair. I always try and remember to use heat protection, and recently I've been loving the Batiste Stylist Heat and Shine Spray. What I love about this spray is that the formula has been designed for use on dry hair, which definitely helps to speed things up in a morning and once sprayed onto the hair doesn't feel sticky or tacky at all, meaning I don't have to worry about singeing my hair in the process of styling. Instead this feels really lightweight and leaves my hair looking shiny and healthy, so I don't have to double up with a shine spray.

It's very rare now that I will brush my hair with a normal hair brush as I've found that since switching to my Tangle Teezer, they seem to pull on my hair too much. But my Tangle Teezer is perfect for brushing my hair without damaging it by pulling too vigorously on the hairs, yet is strong enough to detangle any knots in my hair.

Next up is an everyday styling essential and that's my trusty Batiste Dry Shampoo in Medium and Brunette, since darkening my roots this is such a great product to help avoid grey or white cast roots. I like to spray my roots and leave the dry shampoo in my hair for a couple of minutes just to help soak any excess oils, and then comb out. I love how effortless this is in comparison to the original formula, I never have to worry about the roots of my hair looking white, and this also helps to cover up any of my natural hair growth until I get my hair coloured.

To style my hair I've swapped my much loved GHD's for the Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Styler*, which feature unique Diamond Hi-technology - coating the ceramic plates with crushed diamond particles mixed with tourmaline. This innovative technology helps to protect your hairs natural oils and colour to help leave your hair shiny and frizz free. This is such a great multi-use tool, not only can I achieve poker straight hair in minutes as well as sleek and chic loose curls. I find that when styling my hair with this styler it helps keep my hair looking frizz free for the next few days which is always a bonus as it makes it a lot more manageable.

When it comes to adding those finishing touches I like to style my hair with not just essentials such as bobby pins or bobbles but I like to also add bows and colourful clips. Since damaging my hand a few weeks ago I've been limited with what I can do, but one look I find not only effortless to create but also looks rather chic is the traditional half up, half down style, which I'll finish with either a cute bow or clip. Another must have for my is my pack of Invisibobble's, which are great for simply ponytails as they don't leave any indents in the hair so I don't have to worry about any kinks in my hair if I want to wear my hair down the following day.

I'd love to know your everyday hair styling routine!

10 Minute Makeup - My Everyday Routine

10 Minute Makeup - My Everyday Routine

As much as I enjoy spending a good half an hour applying my makeup when going out, I can't say the same for when I'm putting my face on in a morning for work. Instead I favour an extra 20 minutes in bed catching some much needed shut eye or just lounging around waiting the moment I need to jump out of bed and get ready for the day ahead - and you know what this works wonders when you're running late in a morning. So I wanted to share with you my 10 minute makeup routine that I tend to wear most days for work.
