As much as I enjoy spending a good half an hour applying my makeup when going out, I can't say the same for when I'm putting my face on in a morning for work. Instead I favour an extra 20 minutes in bed catching some much needed shut eye or just lounging around waiting the moment I need to jump out of bed and get ready for the day ahead - and you know what this works wonders when you're running late in a morning. So I wanted to share with you my 10 minute makeup routine that I tend to wear most days for work.
Starting with the base two firm favourites of mine have to be the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Oil Free and the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser, this duo make such a great quick and easy base. The primer is one of my favourites as it not only helps my makeup last throughout the day but also keeps oil at bay with minimum shine. The tinted moisturiser is such a great base to apply when you're limited for time as it applies and blends really easily giving the appearance of flawless skin, evening the skin tone and covering minor imperfections and redness.
If I need any additional coverage I can't resist my trusty NARS Creamy Concealer, a little goes a long way and this blends effortless to cover any blemishes or redness that the tinted moisturiser hasn't completely concealed. To set my base I've been loving the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, setting my foundation and concealer without adding any cake. This keeps my face looking semi matte without looking too flat, still giving my base some definition, and I'm guaranteed a look that will last all day thanks to this powder.
For cheeks I've recently re-discovered my love for Benefit Sugarbomb, complete with four beautiful shades that I like to swirl together to not only give some colour to my cheeks but a healthy glow also, doubling up as a subtle highlighter - and let's face it when we're spending 10 minutes in a morning applying makeup a dual use product definitely comes in handy! To contour I couldn't be without my NARS Laguna, as this never looks too overdone on the skin nor does it appear to have any orange undertones on the skin, but instead applies very natural on the skin leaving a warm and radiant glow.
I think I probably spend the most amount of time in a morning applying eye products, and starting with brows I can never be without my Anastasia Brow Whiz and Benefit Gimme Brow. The combination of these gives my unshapely brows a statement arch, and the fine tip of the Brow Whiz is perfect for defining the shape of your brows as well as filling in any sparse areas. To set I love using Gimme Brow as not only does it shape my brows without looking crispy but it also provides a hint of colour so you're getting a brow tint at the same time without making a trip to a beauty counter.
I tend to rotate mascaras just purely to use them all up as I own way too many, but as of late I really love the look of the Lancome Hypnose Mascara on my lashes. Not only does this lengthen my lashes by an insane amount to the point where it can look like I'm wearing falsies but this also on a second and third coat applies an even amount of volume that helps to really open the eyes. I can sense a repurchase coming on shortly.!
My routine would not be complete without slapping on a bit of lippy, and my favourite everyday shade comes in the form of MAC Patisserie! This is the most perfect pinky nude that definitely gives the appearance of my lips but better, and despite it being a lustre finish and lasting a maximum of a couple of hours this is a great choice for those who want just a hint of colour without opting for something too bright.
I'd love to know what makeup products make up your daily routine!
